Will any civilisation be able to gain a foothold in this harsh, fantastical land?

My first map! It is a general fantasy world with a lot of hostile areas on it. No civilisations are on it, you can place them yourself but they might struggle to survive....

You could start them anywhere, but I put grassland for Humans, crystal caves for Dwarves, enchanted for Elves and Savannah for Orcs.
