That's strange, the spawn ratio of "easter egg spears" is really low, you need to search a whole town to find just a couple of them, and the spawn ratio of sturdy spears is let's say, uncommon.
I suppose you are playing with a lot more mods, check if any of them modify the spawn ratio of things.
The crafting process is physically demanding and time consuming, it just make sense.

No, you can't, i have the same idea of implementing that in the first release, but feels too OP for my taste, maybe in the future ;)
BTW any mod that attach/binds whatever to a spear will not be compatible without an update on that mod to include my spears, that's the way recipes work, but dont worry, if i decide to include such feature in my mod, i'll include that additional characteristic.
