As for suggestions, this might take a lot of work, but I think would be AWESOME.
1. Like a summon-able version of all the creatures in the game. It could take more time to roll out, but you can summon an undead beefalo to ride around, an undead Pigman or Merm to body guard you, and more complicated creatures need more complicated requirements to make. Perhaps one or several upgrades to the basic nercomancer book.
2. Since he is a necromancer, he is able to revive his dead teammates. This doesn't have to be a permanent revivial, they can just be losing HP till they die again. A way to die in a better place to get your items back.
3. Since you are going for a whole undeath appeal where he is rotting away, it would be incredible if you included grafting on himself. Say after a week in game (configurable), his limbs start rotting away and what would normally take 12 swings of an axe to fell a tree, would then take 15 or 20. At that point, he is able to graft creatures bodies onto his own.
For example, the Arms of a merm to hit harder, the legs of a frog to be able to leap over obstacles, the wings of several birds to temporarily fly, the armoured body of a bishop.
4. Since he is able to commune with the dead and beyond, perhaps he is able to help the pipsqueaks in their sad graves.
5. The main appeal of a necromancer is the constant renewal of your army. You can't ever win a war of attrition against them because once you die, they'll just revive your body and make you fight on their side.
So having the dead bodies lay around after you kill a creature, and if you're quick enough, you can raise them from the dead. This could include bosses as well. Kinda like Maxwell's book, you can summon them at will to fight. If you've read the Manhwa "Solo Leveling" you know what I'm going for.
6. He could be an excellent gardner. Like wormwood, just his presence around plants makes them happy. His rotting body provides nutrients for the plants to grow better.
7. All necromancers are out to get more power, so perhaps a quest would be the best. His powers come from objects, and those objects are scattered around the map during world gen, both above and below ground. These objects can be guarded but their own versions of mini-bosses.
Just a few ideas I had! Again, love the mod, looking forward to more!
