HNS Gladius (Force Recon Cruiser)

Hyperion Naval Shipyards' newest hull design, the Gladius is a long-range reconnaissance missile cruiser. This hull boasts an impressive array of near and far-field scanning systems, hardened for both battlefield and scientific use. It features a prototype vacuum-ramjet propulsion system, which when combined with the two Class-V accelerated fusion reactors, allow the cruiser to plot jumps much further and faster than ships of a similar weight class.

A lighter, more maneuverable hull, the Gladius was designed to operate primarily in deep space as a detached scout, while still providing valuable intelligence on local enemy assets when operating within a fleet setting thanks to its many radar, optical, and infrared sensor arrays. While not as heavily armed or armored as a mainline combat ship, what the Gladius lacks in bulk it more than makes up for in speed, advanced sensors, and long range guided missiles. It is capable of providing a near-real-time overview of the battlefield to determine the perfect moment to deliver devastating torpedo and missile attacks against high-value enemy assets.
