As an independent enterprise, the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute "Gradient" ("VNII "Gradient") conducts its chronology since December 30, 1974. It was on this day that an order was issued by the Ministry of Radio Industry in pursuance of the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. The order provided for the organization of a new enterprise, which received the status of the Central Design Bureau "Gradient". Taking into account the specifics of the products produced at the enterprise, a numbered value was present in its conditional name for a long time, and since 1999, by order of the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation No. 331 of 07.07.1999. the company has received the status of a Federal State Unitary Enterprise.
