The Ultimate Config by J is a gazillion of cfgs dedicated to toying with the thousands of available settings of the game in order to give you a smoother and more pleasant experience. It does a lot, including trying to and improving your sound.

Please go through the read only sections in order to get a better understanding of what it does, how it does it and most importantly - how to set it up for you. (A couple of variables in a file here and there will provide you with different settings for different things once you launch the game.)

There's a ton of guides and videos about all sorts of tips and tricks all over the internet and I'm sure that you can find them on your own if you care to look.

I still felt like sharing these ones, since I find them to be actually useful and ones that can help you perform better in-game.

There's useful stuff, like how not to "fall from edges" and need to be picked up.

We get to one of the most frequently asked questions by both new players as well as ones that are starting to really get into the game.

"What is the best weapon?" - I'm sharing below two guides (for melee and firearms) that should help answer that question for you.

Please note that the melee analysis is little bit outdated. (Knife sucks now. TLDR: Fireaxe, Katana & Machete rock... And the Chainsaw, of course.)

What is Left 4 Dead without mods, right? In this section I'm going to share two collections.

The first collection is one that I've bothered myself to make and it contains a bevy of what I like to call quality of life mods. These are meant to enhance your gameplay overall by improving/changing particular areas (of the game, not maps), while still keeping the game vanilla.

The second one is for you freaks who don't actually play on a toaster and is meant to beautify your game and try to give it a more modern look, once again while keeping it vanilla instead of an abomination with anime, Shrek and whatever the hell. Beware, this one is huge.

The original L4D1 and L4D2 campaigns are excellent and timeless indeed. However, after 10+ years of grinding, even with the AI Director and the RNG, they can get a little bit repetative and boring.

Luckily for you, our great moders have produced hundreds, if not thousands, of custom maps and campaigns by now. Many of them excellent, too. A good way to keep the experience interesting is indeed trying these out. I can't stress this enough. Grabbing a couple of friends and trying out brand new, undiscovered and unplayed custom campaigns bring a particular kind of joy back into the game.

There's already an excellent guide that I'm going to share with a list of some of the best custom campaigns ever made. It's a great place to start. Once you go past these? I'm also sharing a giant collection with most (if not all) custom campaigns so far. Still not enough for you? Well, the workshop is your friend.
