Diamond Armor

Extended Tech Tree Mod.

Description
Adds very costly Diamond Armor to the game.

Diamond Armor parts that is roughly 4 times as strong as tri-steel armor.

This armor costs diamonds and steel to produce, making it insanely expensive. However, it can be repaired for either free or for almost free as it will cost steel if the damage is high enough).
This bug is also present in the tristeel armor mod as repairing that armor will only cost steel and never tristeel.
The only way to fix this bug is by doing some global changes which would affect everything made by those rare resources or by adding something complicated like an entire line of factories with custom materials, which is outside of the scope of this mod.

(Diamond Armor used to not be salvagable without a mining laser before the crew construction, but the crew construction update would make the armor unbuildable, which is why I reverted this trait)

This mod started out as a testbed to test a feature someone brought up in the discussion section of Sir Evan's Tri-steel armor mod.
As Sir Evans stated his mod is free to use as a base for your own mod (which is what I did here so I'm not infringing on any copyright here or anything), I ended up using Gimp to practice recoloring the armor pieces and changing this for diamonds as a really expensive armor that was not an outright cheat was something I wanted.

Therefor I decided to upload this mod. Any praise or thanks should not be directed at me but at Sir Evans instead I think, even though he stated he doesn't want to be credited I'm still crediting him because I think he deserves it because without his tri-steel armor mod, I'd never made this mod. And tbf personally I think tri-steel armor should be a default feature of the base game anyway.

This armor doesn't use any blueprints or anything, you can use it right away (if you're rich enough :P ).

This mod is based on Sir Evan's tri-steel armor mod which can be found here https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2885381015

oh yeah the thermal protection is very welcomed. Thermal canisters were ripping through 4 layers of diamond 2x1s like they were nothing

Ty for the update :)

Version 1.2.0

Updated for Cosmoteer version 0.30.0, adds foldable menu and proper thermal protection similar to Sir Evans's Tristeel Armor Mod.

Please let me know if there are any issues with it.

@Midiray:Yup, that's definitely a bug. Resistances didn't use to work this way as any non-specific resistance would use the same value as the default one.

Thanks for reporting all.

The reason resistance is needed is because heat does % damage so it removes diamond armor at the same rate as normal armor without resistance, my ship got slaughtered in career because the enemy had a little support thermal lance.

I'm probably gonna settle for 25% as well. More shouldn't be needed for this armor.

I was working on some new armor sets for extended tech tree mod, but since I don't play the game anymore the question will be if I ever will release these.

Yup, part of new Overclock update. Heat effect results in part taking more damage, so new weapon effectivelly goes through the ships like hot knife through butter.

I was wondering about resistance to heat, if this makes sense for our armors? After all diamonds are pretty flammable, not sure if Tristeel would be heat resistant either. But I think I'll settle for 25% heat resistance.

Guess maybe we could use a "new" ceramic plating or something :D

@sir Evans: Is that part of the vanilla game now?
I still need to implement your tweaks for the diamond armor mod, will probably implement this fix at the same time.

Thermal lances. They seem to melt right through our armors :)

@Midiray:What is a TRL?
It does sound like a bug though. I'll add it to my todo list. The last patch made some changes to resistances, but this armor wouldn't be affected due to the very high amount of hp and high pen resistance.
