WTTG: The Waiting Room Map

Description
! Warning ! You will probably need:

Counter strike: Source materials + props
Counter strike: Global Offensive materials + props
Left 4 Dead 2 materials + props

"Welcome to the Game: The Waiting room" DLC map re-created from the game of the same name made by a small, independent, American game developer "Reflect Studios".

All rights belong to the developers from the original game, I just re-created the map in Garry's Mod out of fun, map development practice, and for an endless world of sandbox possiblities.




Useful Info about these map series:

- This map contains hostile NPCs! Be careful!
- These maps have custom textures packed within the maps.
- Contains nav nodes for certain NPCs to work on. (Forgot to make a nav generation, an update shall come soon with that feature.)
- The map has 4 player spawn points.
- This map has been in development for 1 month.
- This map can be played with up to 4 players.
- There might be some bugs here and there, I'm really sorry if you find any.
- There are map events. (Buttons, random sounds, NPC spawns,
*POSSIBLE JUMPSCARE SOUNDS*
, etc)

- Help information (This will be updated as new problems are found by players) -

Q • I can't find the map.
A • The map should be located on the tag "Others" with the name of "wttg_waiting_room", if it's not there try re-subscribing since something probably went wrong during the workshop subscription.

Q • There are various models and characters from half life and such, they aren't from WTTG so why are you using them here?
A • 90% of the assets used on the map are either from Half-Life 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, or Left4Dead 2, there aren't many WTTG custom models available on the Garry's mod workshop I'm afraid and I'm not familiar with model porting. I simply work with what I got.

Q • Can't seem to be able to use the in-game computer keyboard.
A • The way the computer was developed in was a bit... messy. If it's not working try spamming "E" with a certain distance from the computer, also move your mouse all around the keyboard and screen (while spamming "E")

Q • The game is too hard and the room triggers are unforgiving.
A • There are certain audio queues and hidding places that will keep you safe from the executioner, for the audio pay close attention to footsteps, or doors opening, if you sense the executioner is coming you can hide in either the vents, or one of the beds found on any cell.

Q • The executioner got stuck on a prop and won't keep walking, he's stuck.
A • I'm aware of that bug, it is not at all a feature from the game, he should just be able to walk around the prop (unless it's too big) and continue his patrol. Unfortunately, at this time I haven't been able to find any solution to this issue. If any Hammer expert is reading this and knows of a solution, feel free to contact me, I'll be sure to add you as a collab on this workshop project.

Not sure what you mean by character mode, do you mean model? I don't make models.

Yup, there's also that bug, not supposed to happen at all but so far haven't found a fix, a single small prop will stop the enemy from continuing his path. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

well there was 1 time where he was stuck in the pc room due a prop blocking his pathing i think, he never moved and is basically a softlock

I most likely did, I'll attempt to fix them on a future update.

Meanwhile the room triggers are indeed a bit unforgiving, however there's hidden spots where you can hide at such as the beds, or the vents, listening for footsteps and other sounds will help you and give you plenty of time to rush to those locations.

There's also a specific pattern the executioner does when patrolling the map, if you find it out the game will actually turn out to be extremely easy, sadly...

i think you forgot to run buildcubemaps before upload, every reflective surface becomes error on icon load, also the room triggers are a bit unforgiving

If the feedback is high enough, I may make the player's house from the actual Welcome to the Game on a new future workshop submission.
