Built for CPU and block limits

The Galileo is a Starter CV that can run entirely self-sufficient, including a small fuel and pentaxid production from it's grow plots. Power usage is extremely low, enabling it to fly with shield and turrets on without consuming any fuel. Wild maneuvering may cause some fuel-usage - the risk to run into this can be reduced if the low power mode is enabled (that will however hurt its already low agility a lot).

Warning:
The Ship cannot land. You will need a SV to get into the ship if you spawn this on a planet!


It does have a small landing area for a SV, so use that to get down to planet surfaces. The ship should be able to hover without fuel usage on regular gravity planets, use the additional lift switch if necessary.

Upgradeability is rather limited: you can add a Long-Range Radar by replacing the decor-radar and replace the warp with an Adv. Warp.

The build shouldn't be taken to serious, it is more of a little RP project than a really serious ship. But should still be entirely valid as a Starter and/or Exploration CV. Inspired by various Scifi concepts for Solar-Sail Spaceships.

Note the ship is unarmored, so keep your shields up!

@Vovan: I did try that. The biggest issue is that the game does simulate drag from atmosphere, which means the ship needs a lot of forward thrust to reach max speed on planets, du to its large cross-section. So you want to add quite a few extra forward thrusters. Other than that some smaller upgrades like a long range radar, and you're good to go in the decay cluster.

I thought for a long time where such a ship could come in handy. In Decoy, after the gates of Andromeda, such a non-volatile ship is very suitable for a mobile base and movement between planets.

Cool design. After seeing the Sizzling Sangpan, I wondered what it would take to go completely solar. I actually work on solar sails, and this is as close as you can get in Empyrion without more extensive modding.
