Volmar Mining Support Vessel

Description
This was designed and built in a survival game (with no use of creative tools) to fit with a chosen play style, where hydrogen is used as the principal fuel for all ships and vehicles while hydrogen gas can only be produced on a static grid. As a result, this vessel is NOT self-sufficient.

The Volmar is a lightweight vessel intended to support the operations of small grid mining craft by providing a mobile cargo drop-off and refuelling point. It is configured to provide heavy lift capability from surface to orbit and back, with comfortable quarters for off-duty crew and a spacious working environment.

Flight controls on the main flight seat are duplicated on each of the helms at the ends of the bridge, which allow for close dockside or cliffside manoeuvring. There is a one-touch launch prep function, which will take the hydrogen tank off stockpile, take the batteries off recharge, enable the thrusters, pressurize the airlock and release landing gear and connectors. There is also a programmable block with Blarg's Ascent Cruise Control script; if this is enabled, it will also be activated with the launch prep function. Otherwise, the cockpit features thrust override controls for managing ascent. The large lift thrusters are not required in gravity when the vessel is not carrying cargo, and can be switched off to help with manoeuvring in zero gravity.

There is a fully functional airlock situated amidships, between the flight deck and the crew quarters. This can be operated by means of various button panels located around the vessel. The airlock features a timeout, in the event that it cannot be pressurized from tanks, or cannot be depressurized into tanks.

The two docking connectors are located at each side of the vessel, at the airlock exits. At each there is a helm for convenient docking, as well as a ladder to facilitate boarding when landed on the ground, as well as access to the roof of the vessel. A hydrogen engine is fitted to assist with charging electrical mining craft.

Within the floor of the airlock are two reinforced conveyors, which have been painted yellow. Either of these can be safely removed and replaced with conveyor sorters if required for unloading miners. There is a locker which can be used for keeping components for this.

Navigation lights attempt to adhere to the Cygnus/Dragon scheme. A timer block is used to attempt to bring a double-flash to the dorsal white lights. If you wish to turn off navigation lights, this timer block will also have to be stopped.

Now a longer version.

I'm developing a longer version of this with a second heavy lift thruster. This doesn't have the grunt to get off the ground when full at 1G.

This is what you get when you design and build in survival.
