Child Sized Armor

Description
There are two types of people on the rim; those who feel it's unethical to create equipment that promotes use of child soldiers, and those who feel it's unethical to send your child soldiers into battle without proper equipment.

This mod is for the second type of person.

It adds the following child sized apparel, with stats identical to the adult sized versions but with reduced weight and material cost.

• kid plate armor
• kid flak vest
• kid power armor and kid power helmet (using the stats from recon armor)


Update 1.0.4: The child-sized recon helmet now supports different syles (morbid, totemic and animalist) just like the grown up version. This requires ideology to be installed, but will not cause errors if it is not.

Update for Odyssey: Updated child-sized power armor to have just short of 100% vacuum resistance, same as vanilla adult-sized power armor.


Compatibility: This is a simple XML & texture mod so will work with any mod that handles existing child-sized clothing.

@PetLoverSpy I assume that mod is trying to load an adult body texture, which does not exist. If you have Odyssey try the Kid Outfit Stand instead.

I'm not sure whether I should report this here or on the Armor Racks mod, but the Kid Power Armor displays the pink error box texture when stored on an armor rack from the mod. No functional problem, I presume (never had one with this mod, always been great), but just a visual glitch I thought worth mentioning

@Kalter Stahl You could use School Defense. No shield belts for them unfortunately, and the turret is dropped on the ground but you can at least equip them with a turret backpack to drop and run away.

I don't suppose I could get some child ranged shield belts and turret backpacks? Back before Biotech I didn't let the kids out to play until they could run away in full panic with shields and a turret firing in the opposite direction!

@Nepenthe, Many thanks for that explanation. I'll give it a go, fortunately the items I want to modify are relatively simple. This mod has saved at least 3 of my child colonists from harm so far when they were nature wandering - even loaded a save to test without their child armor and it was fatal for the child.
