Vanilla Helixien Gas Expanded is a brand new mod for the release of RimWorld 1.4. With this update, we've decided that it's best we split Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Power and the Helixien gas, as not only it gives us more control over it, but it's also the only logical choice, as the helixien gas is very complex and occupies a big portion of VFE-Power.

When you update your Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Power to 1.4, you will no longer have Helixien gas in it. If you'd still like it: you need to download this mod as well. Previous Helixien gas system was coded by Fluffy, but because he is no longer around as often, we decided to move the system to the one written by Kikohi which we already used in Vanilla Chemfuel Expanded.

With this mod you will be able to drill for Helixien gas and install a pump that gives you access to cheap, combustible and nearly infinite fuel supply. You can construct numerous appliances that rely on gas and are solar flare immune. From gas stoves and smithys to lamps and heaters, you can now bring the gas power to your colony.

A single, small but infinite pocket of Helixien gas is now available from game start, allowing players to go straight for gas technology and placing a pump to get small, but infinite supply of Helixien gas without having to scan for more pockets.

Players can still scan for more pockets of Helixien gas, but those won't be infinite - this means that you can increase the supply temporarily, or stick to the one infinite pocket for a lower but never ending supply.

A: Can I add it mid-playthrough to an existing save?
A: Yes, definitely.

Q: Does this work with Combat Extended?
A: Yes.

Q: How do I find Helixien gas?
A: Pockets of helixien gas appear when scanning using the ground-penetrating scanner.

Q: Does it work with any mod adding oil/refining/pipes?
A: Yes, it does!

Q: Why remove it from VFE-Power?
A: Because we have our own pipe system now, and the previous version of Helixien gas had it’s issues - particularly that none of our programmers could understand how to work it. Now, we are in full control again. It’s a big enough concept that it deserves a standalone mod.

I like this mod when I do play-throughs of permanent solar flares. It almost meets all of my colony's basic needs *except*... I wish that it would cover the additional few "basic" items that you can research and obtain before microelectronics.

- The first would be gas hydroponics. This would allow survival in even the most harsh conditions without power once you have heat and light.
- The second would be a gas turret. There is already a propane turret, so something similar to this but hooked into the pipe network and not requiring "refueling".
- The third would be gas autodoors. There is no equivalent in the game and perhaps this one is a stretch.

These are all researchable before microelectronics. It would be great if these were added in, even if they were considered an "advanced gas usage" option in the research. I considered making a mod for myself with these 3 items, but why create a new wheel if these could simply be added to the def files already here!

Is there a right way to reach out to Oskar? I have a mod that requires a pair of derivative textures (because I lack the skill to do entirely new graphics) produced by HSV shifting the Helixien valve textures. This is because the neutroamine pipes from Races Expanded: Android don't have a valve, and therefore don't have textures for one. I'm using valve textures with a glow effect to represent input and output teleporters in a Cross Dimensional Pipes addon mod, and I'd like permission to use these derivative textures in my mod (with credit, of course). It'll be one mod that covers all the Vanilla Expanded networks I'm aware of (Chemfuel, Deepchem, Helixien, Nutrient Paste, Neutroamine, Hemogen, and Temperature).

I believe that the stove doesnt count for the room to be assign as Kitchen, giving the "Not in kitchen" debuff to work speed

Just gonna take a guess and say that this tech is waaaay higher than medieval tech. So having it enabled for a medieval playthrough would be pointless yeah?

Weird "bug" happened to me today,
Loaded up a colony as normal, Almost all bits found in the "pipe networks" tab had vanished, For some reason they are all now in different menus E.G. The "gas sun lamp" is now found in the "furniture" tab.

So i found an interesting bug, if your gravship lands on a gas geyser this apparently can cause it to...effectrively pull it along wtih. I didn't figure this out at first and thought it was just weird luck i landed on a gas vent 3 times, but when that part of the ship was off in the middle of space and gas was still spewing out, i realized it must erroneously be able to connect itself to gravship foundation and just be pulled along for the ride until i fill it in (or maximize the cheese and build a pump on it)

I added this mod mid-safe, so i´m lacking the infinite pocket. I struggle to find information about these pockets. How big are they in tiles. And where can i find them in the debug actions menu to spawn a pocket or create one myself?

so what exactly is stopping someone from condensing and canning the stuff to be used like chemfuel
