Unique Generic Nations [1.15]

Description
Overview

This mod adds a multiple-choice event chain at the start of the game, from which you can add a wide selection of ideas, buffs, units, technologies, debuffs, flying mechanized equipment, and more! The player gets the option to decide who gets the event chain (everyone, minor powers only, player only, or everyone but the player).

Overview, but in more detail

The event chain consists of (roughly) 3 parts:

- General nation history

- Army

- Air or Navy (or both)

every section has at least 12+ different options, with plenty of hidden or extra options. Due to the option limit in event modding, a section will start with a general question with four different options. Each option will have its own event where the actual buffs/debuffs and so on are stored.

The mod is primarily made to work with overhaul mods like Random Country Placement , where every nation is more or less stripped of character and uniqueness, but works perfectly fine in regular hoi4.

It's a bit difficult to list every option available, so I hope the screenshots will give you a general idea of what's going on.

Note: Almost all of the options that add debuffs can be fixed through decisions. They're fairly simple, and take a while to get done. However, you will end up with your debuff turned into a buff.

DLC

I've added the Man the Guns requirement due to some of the boat-related events using the MtG ship designing system. It will still work without it, but any boat-related events will probably be broken.

However, the game both works with and without By Blood Alone. This mod uses the BBA plane designer system, but if you don't have the DLC, the mod will just give you normal planes instead.

oh also I don't have the three newest DLCs so I don't know if any of those break anything, but it *should* be fine.

Bugs/Issues

- The decisions included in this mod don't have working icons for some reason. I swear, decision gfx is my worst enemy.

- with some options, there is a 1-day delay until the next event pops up. This is normal, but might get phased out eventually.

Extra

The events in this mod have the ID "uniqueness". If you type in "event uniqueness.1" in the console, you trigger the starting event shown in the first screenshot. Could be handy if you want to look through all the choices.

as always, I cannot promise anything, but I like your ideas :)
(and thank you so much for enjoying my mod!)

I love this mod, I use it every time when i want to play a minor country, therefore, i have some ideas for it!
-A desicion to activate the event chain, Because there are moments when your playing a newly released nation or switch your country tag on day 1 and it doesn't pop-up.
-You could also add an event or decision to take ALL of the debuffs.
Maybe when it comes to Air, you get more options, example of 3:
-Air! > I love flying bricks! (Buffs to Heavy Fighters)
-Air! > I have a personal grudge against Factories. (Massive buffs to Strat./Tact. Bombers)
Speaking of Depresso Expresso, I have a new idea for an "Economy" section.

-Our Economy is as Fragile as Glass. (Provides a national Spirit called "Fragile Economy." When you loose one Core Territory and don't take it back within 30 days, you get an economic depression, similar to India's "Famine" mechanic but it nukes your economy by increasing consumer goods usage by 90%, it's up to you whether it should be permanent or temporary.)

@SomeRandomChris actually not a bad idea to give the options to newly released countries. I think there might be a way

I'm happy you're happy! :D Yeah, I enjoy mods that I can use to force myself to try different things a lot. And this is one of those mods. I use it on all of my modlists lol.

As for where could you put it, you could maybe replace the "surprise me" option with a "Randomness" (or something? lol) option that takes you to a new event with the 2 randomizing options (or something like that :P)

Another thing that idk if it is a possibility is giving the event to freshly released nations (That have not got the events yet) (or in some mods like KR/KRX the new nations you create like central america) so those get the buffs too (but this is far less important).

@SomeRandomChris I'm still around :) (tho I haven't done any drastic hoi4 modding in a while lol)
I'm very touched by your comment, and I'm very happy you have enjoyed playing with my mod!

Also I like your idea - I think it fits very nicely with the spirit of the mod. I think the only real trouble would be where to put it. Maybe the semi-secret half hidden options have the space for it. I'm away from my pc for a while, and of course, I cannot promise that anything will get implemented, and if it does, I cannot give you a timeframe at all
(but because the idea is cool, I think there is a decent chance it'll get done, at least at some point)

Hey, idk if you're still around working on the mod but I wanted to say tank you, I really enjoy the mod. I love the "surprisme me" option and picking random options after that to play according tho my strengts, it really made the game more "dynamic" for me. I would like to ask if it is possible (if you're still working on it) to make an option that just chooses all the options at random (minus the secret ones duh), maybe a "Full random" one and a "Only positive ideas" one. Thx again for this mod!

you're very welcome!

yes that makes sense i just want to create wacky countries with diffenert modifiers just for the craziness thank you for the event id :)
Barry Bee Benson  [author] 15 Dec, 2024 @ 12:28am
@XxlonewolfxX
the option won't appear again if you already have a national spirit from the semi-hidden events. I did this because the hidden event chain gives you the option to go back to the *very* beginning, and so allowing the player to get into a big loop of options could maybe be a bit tooooo strong.
(but you *can* re-trigger the semi-hidden event with the id "uniqueness.21" :) )
(also I believe either the manpower event chain doesn't give you national spirits, which should technically allow you to go through the hidden events twice without any console trickery)
