Description
"Designed as a supplement to the steadily growing research and expedition vessels produced for long-term use on the Aphotic Plateau and beyond. Reusing salvaged parts for critical systems and leaving most models produced only partially outfitted compared to design documents have greatly cut costs at the sake of reliability. While performance suffers for it, any fledgeling research venture will likely see the Eukelade as a promising candidate to secure sites of interest.."

Initially developed and launched to provide research stations with a design more capable against the horrors of Europa, the Eukelade was initially drawn up much closer to traditional attack designs of the day. However, material shortages and dwindling Coalition coffers left shipwrights with the issue of filling the order for these research vessels on the cheap. Their solution was to purchase as many salvaged systems and cobble together what couldn't be bought on their own, and panel over the patchwork as best they could.

The result was a ship plagued with unreliable systems. While this saw the line released, it was finished prematurely in most cases. Ultimately, the Coalition had to settle for distributing the Eukelade at reduced cost to stations.

While the Eukelade itself is no longer in production, parts remain readily available, and a small but fervent group of captains and station administrators alike will swear by them for "Excellent performance" if cared for properly.

Features

The Long Haul - Cobbled together as a research vessel, the Eukelade comes equipped with everything needed for longer term operations in the depths. Comfortable crew quarters, data storage racks for research data - Along with a station to perform the work.complete fabrication quarters allow for the Eukelade to stay on deployment for extended periods. Crews that can bring the design back up to factory spec will be rewarded with a vessel that can go toe-to-toe with more well-known designs. Unreliable Subsystems - Plagued with funding problems, shipyards tasked with creating the Eukelade resorted to the devil's bargain of using old, refurbished or salvaged components in the majority of the submarine's critical systems. Common breakdowns and sensitive electrics will require either upgrades or a careful maintenance schedule to ensure the submarine continues ticking along."

With a forgiving wiring layout, no connection locks on anything except the most inaccessible electrics, and a generous number of hardpoints to be filled mid-campaign, the Eukelade is designed with new players in mind.

Built as a speed-challenge, this submarine was built in only three days! A no-frills design with an emphasis on looking cool and being easy to play.. As always, this vessel is totally up for modification by the community. Thanks to Undertow for making Barotrauma. Best submarine game one could ask for. <3
