SMR Balcic (Neutrality Marks)

The SMR Balcic was a Romanian Motor Ship for passengers and cargo built to serve the Transatlantic Route for the Romanian Maritime Service. In 1941, during the Second World War the Romanian Goverment rented the ship to the Deutsche Levante Line, which used it as for cargo transport. During 1943 she partially sank during a German air raid while docked in Split, Croatia. She was refloated in 1947 and taken by Jugolinija. She entered in service in 1948 with the name Srem, which was changed to Vojvodina in 1951. In 1968 she was transferred to Lsinjska Plovidba. In 1969 she was sold to the Cia de Navegacion Espumar in Panama, being named Kim. In 1975 she was sold to Ikros Shipping Co., being renamed Daffodil. In 1976 she was sold to Evinar Cia Naviera, being once again renamed, this time, to Opal. In 1976 she was once again sold, but for the last time to D. Tsaousakis L.D. Tripolis.
She was scrapped in 1979.
