SMR Mangalia (Neutrality Marks)

Description
The SMR Cavarna was a Romanian Motor Ship for passengers and cargo built to serve the Transatlantic Route for the Romanian Maritime Service. In 1941 the United States seized the ship while it was docked in New York after Romania joined the war on the side of the Axis.
The ship, which was surrendered to the War Naval Administration, was bought by the U.S. Navy and transformed into med transport ship at the Robins Dry Dock Co. in Brooklyin, New York. She was given back to the U.S. Navy on 3rd September 1941 as USS Pleiades.
On 21st November 1945, the USS Pleiades was taken out of service, renamed the Scepter and assigned to the Reserve Fleet.
Without being used again, the ship was scrapped in 1968.
