Description
About
No Death Cascade stops on death stress cascading through your family wiping out generations in less than one week.

In this world, nothing is certain except death, taxes and stress!

HOW TO
This mod is passive, the only thing you have to do is select the appropriate game rules before you start your game.

The mod has three modes of operation, either cascade, blocking or mourning.
  • Cascade mode applies on death stress to you and your family as per the vanilla game.
  • Blocking mode will block you and your family from receiving any on death stress.
  • Mourning mode will apply one on death stress to you and your family and then implement a period of mourning during which time none of you will receive any further on death stress.

HOW TO - Blocking mode
There are three rules for this mode, once you select one you just play your game with no further action required.
  • Player only - no on death stress for the player.
  • Close Family - no on death stress for the player and their close family.
  • Extended Family - no on death stress for the player and their close or extended family.

HOW TO - Mourning mode
There are two rules for this mode which set the duration of the period of mourning, either brief or long.
  • Brief mourning - The player and their close family will receive on death stress for the first death of a significant person in their life, and then they will enter a brief period of mourning lasting 2 years, during which time they are comfortably numb experiencing no further on death stress.
  • Long mourning - The player and their close family will receive on death stress for the first death of a significant person in their life, and then they will enter a brief period of mourning lasting 5 years, during which time they are comfortably numb experiencing no further on death stress.

NOTE
For both modes of operation, the player's spouse is included as part of their close family.
See the screenshots for further explanation of the mod's operation.

Default game rule and save game compatibility
You can safely add and remove the mod from a save game.

The default game rule is set to the mod's Brief Mourning mode.

If you also use the Gamerule Gadget mod then you will be able to change the mod to use any of it's game rules after adding it to a save game.

Compatibility
Because of the way events are modded in CK3, this mod is not compatible with any other mod that edits the death_management_events.txt file. If you are subscribed to any other mod that edits that file you will have to choose between this mod and the other mod, you cannot run both.

Part of this mod owes it's functionality to an original idea in a now redundant mod AntiStressCascade by Sethamon

Not sure tbh, it largely depends on whether AGOT edits death_management_events.txt

Hi! Is the mod compatible with agot?

Cool, as long as you're happy is all that matters.
I judge it on the fact that I have not missed any of the mods that I culled from my playset.

I mean I'm a patient person lol, I have no problem waiting for updated as long as the devs keep open lines and not abandon the project, but also there were plenty of times I just rolled back the game version in properties for my saves, and rolled back after an update when I was done with them. It's not a big deal for me.

When it comes to scope creep I also don't have an issue cause at the end of the day it's copious amount of free, high quality, additional flavour and content. I love events to surprise me now and then instead of seeing ones for the umpteenth time. The specific regional culture events and decisions are also nice cause vanilla doesn't have much of those.

I used to use RICE/VIET but I didn't like some of the scope creep so stopped using them, ck3 has enough content/flavour for me.

Same with EPE, I used to use it but got tired of waiting around for EPE updates after ck3 updates. They do so much in that mod that it's hard for them to turn around a quick update after a main ck3 update due to the amount of effort required and irl priorities for their devs, which is understandable but it leaves my games in a state of limbo where I either have to wait for them to update before playing or accept my current game will likely be dead when they do update.

And tbh my main interest in EPE is the character model updates not the clothing.

The CFP compatch is maintained by a 3rd party that collaborates with the epe devs because they initially dropped it due to the amount of effort involved.

Lol not pita

Yea I get that but I meant just for you to play yourself in vanilla (for me it's mainly when I go for achievements)

Also there's compatches that work for me for several updates now - for example the CFP+EPE one, but I have no clue if it's due to the devs updating it (the comments on it are disabled) or them being fine cause they just add flavor.

Just like most mod devs I don't do compatches for my mods, they are too much of a burden for game updates and general mod updates.

It's up to other people if they want to use incompatible mods together to make compatches for them.

I only did AGOT versions for a couple of my mods because I used to play AGOT but I seriously regret publishing them because now I can't drop them due to the number of subscribers and they are a complete pita when ck3 updates.

Thank you for the reply :)

Btw you should def consider those mods and also EPE, CFP and Medieval Arts, they add SO much to vanilla imho.

I have no idea if NDC is compatible with RICE/VIET mods, essentially because they are flavour mods they could be compatible but without trying the mods together there's no way of telling and I don't use either RICE or VIET.

As for TC mods like AGOT, it's unlikely to be compatible as they undoubtedly edit the death management event.
