TF2 Engineer

Description

The Engineer is a soft-spoken, amiable Texan from Bee Cave, Texas, USA with an interest in all mechanical things. He specializes in constructing and maintaining buildings that provide support to his team, rather than fighting at the front lines, making him the most suitable for defense.

But due to one of Merasmus shenanigans, the mercenaries wound up in the Hamlet of the Darkest Dungeon. Using his ingenuity and his wits, the Engineer uses his buildings to face the hordes until an opportunity arrives to return back to Teufort.

The Engineer, by himself, is an average ranged damage dealer and healer. But his moment shines when he builds his sentry to tank incoming damage. His abilities revolves around tanking enemies and riposte, dealing more damage the more enemies focus on him. He excels at long battles, giving him opportunities to upgrade his sentry, making him more stronger and dangerous, with the cost of lowering his dodge and debuff resist. When the Engineer upgrades his sentry to level 3, he unlocks the ability to use a wrangler and shoot an enemy with the sentry, at the cost of marking himself and possibly stunning himself in the process.

The Engineer is however not useless without his sentry gun, he is still able to provide fire support if upgrading the sentry is not a priority. His support ability also allows him to restore health to both him and his allies when the situation gets dire.

When camping, the Engineer provides support to his team by supplying provisions, healing his party and providing a cheap cost of preventing nighttime ambush.

  • When being forced teleported out in farmstead and entering a battle, the Engineer will retain it's mode but loses it's buffs. This can't be fixed as it uses similar framework as Abomination, which has the same bug in game.

Hi! Toby IO here, this is my first mod in Darkest Dungeon. I have been planning to do this mod for quite some time now, but due to life and being busy, this mod has been delayed for quite a long time. If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to post it in the discussions!

Thanks and shout-out to the Discord Moonlit Dungeon, especially O'Nightmare!, for helping out in some of the coding bugs and questions related to how Darkest Dungeon work!

Q: Will you be doing other classes in the future?
A: Maybe. This was a pet project of mine that took longer than I expected due to life.

Q: Will you update this mod?
A: Unlikely unless there is game-breaking bug that needs to be resolved. The latest update was mostly a send off to fix several issues and giving some QOLs.

Q: Can I share this mod on Nexus?
A: Nope. I should have publish this mod on Nexus Mod from the Mecha Update onwards.

two things:
1. in CC sets and trinket "Bot Killer Wrench", it says debuff skills are disabled. does this mean engineer unable to build sentry? (in CC set case, unable to build sentry past lvl 2)
2. i think this a harmless bug, but the mecha engineer skill "Buildin' a sentry" was displayed repeatedly 4 times in their skill list.

The quest for the Giant Mecha Engineer after destroying the teleporters just won't show up for me. The town event popped up fine but the quest never did, I even tried cycling the ruins boss but that didn't fix it. It's probably a mod conflict of some sort but I don't really have a way to check easily, I even put him and the rebalance mod near the top of the load order but that still didn't fix it. The regular mecha engies still show up in regular dungeons too. Any way to force the quest or event to pop up again maybe?

@Toby-Io I use Korean. Maybe It was some error from string table?
Toby-Io  [author] 28 Aug @ 9:36am
@Anaximander Thanks! Hm not too sure which mod may cause this ctd issue, is the language in English?
Anaximander 27 Aug @ 7:47pm
Great mod. When I hover my cursor over the Short Circuit trinket, I get a CTD. I use so many mods that I'm not sure what's causing it, but I suspect this CTD only occurs with this trinket. Is there some compatibility issue that causes this error?

Honestly hope to see more of the TF2 classes added one day, probably amongst my favourite mods to date.

@Lethal Gooning Yeap, The Tiny Desk Engineer (both the normal and collector edition), just like the actual products, do nothing except yeee.
Lethal Gooning 1 Aug @ 11:44am
I love this mod, but the tiny desk engineer trinket slightly confuses me since it dropped from a secret room. Does it only yeeee and nothing else or is there some hidden thing with it?
