Corporate Reskin Pack

Description
Replaces the five in-game corporations with existing megacorps.

This mod is just a cosmetic reskin for fun and as a worldbuilding exercise. It doesn't affect anything except for UI/logos/names. It's enabled by default, so unsubscribe to disable it.

I wrote blurbs for the new corps to replace default ones before noticing that the long descriptions in the strings don't actually appear anywhere in-game. So I'll just share them below instead.

Now meet.. the five new megacorps!

FTM -> DISNEY
A mass media and entertainment conglomerate, the erstwhile cartoon company proceeded to acquire media outlet after media outlet until they had a chokehold on the Western information industry.

SANKAKU -> ALPHABET
Alphabet emerged from the restructuring of Google, once a mere search engine company that grew into a cloud computing, software, electronics and AI development tech giant. A 2035 merger with Apple and subsequent acquisition of Microsoft left Alphabet with uncontested access to billions of people's personal data and an appreciable advantage in the information war age. Comfortable in their niche, they've doubled down on R&D of AI and military robotics.

PLASTECH -> AMAZON
Amazon was already one of the world's most influential e-commerce and tech companies when they expanded into pharmaceuticals in 2020. In 2023, they acquired BioNTech, freshly fattened on the spoils of a global pandemic, then proceeded to conquer the rest of the industry within the decade. No longer just a shipping company, Amazon reigns supreme in the healthcare and augmentation sector.

K&O -> EXXON
ExxonMobil was a humble multinational oil and gas company when, despite decades of lobbying against green energies, public opinion began to turn away from fossil fuels for good in the 2040's. The oil industry has long relied on conquest and warfare as an affordable avenue to the last remaining oil reserves, but governments cannot always be trusted to start wars on stockholders' behalf. Exxon spent the 2040's growing its own military division to cut out the middleman. In the 2050's, they finally made their move. The result would go down in history as the Resource Wars and spell the end of national governments.

OMNI -> META
We don't know much about META, but they appear to combine the most dangerous aspects of all of the world's leading corporate powers.

"Amazon Detention Center" lol

This is either one of the best joke mods someone could come up with, or a grim prediction of humanity's future. Genius.

"We don't know much about OMNI, but they appear to combine the most dangerous aspects of all of the world's leading corporate powers."

"An ancient family-held concern, K&O have been producing weapons since 'technology' meant a particularly sharpened stick. Finally free from government regulation, they've proven as adept at wielding weapons as they are at building them."

"Plastech Medical made record profits in the early 21st century selling life-extension technologies to aging baby boomers. When that well dried up, they funneled their vast cash reserves into R&D and cornered the market for cybernetic augmentation."

"FTM is the world's largest producer of consumer electronics. Traditionally a downmarket producer trading on volume, they have recently introduced a line of professional grade security and surveillance products."

"Sankaku started as an industrial automation provider in the early 21st century. In recent decades it has capitalized on the corporate class' growing dissatisfaction with human labour to expand into everything from education to law enforcement."
