WH3 Mod Manager

Description
This is a mod manager for the Steam version of Warhammer 3 (as well as WH2, Three Kingdoms, Attila), and allows you to skip the WH3 Launcher, while adding features like filtering and presets. Especially useful for modders.

You don't need to subscribe to or enable this mod, it's here on the workshop just for visibility.
You need to actually download it here:

DOWNLOAD LINK[github.com]

Unzip it after downloading it and run wh3mm.exe. Where you unzip it doesn't matter, the app gets the WH3 location from the registry.

How the mod manager works:
This isn't important for daily use of the manager, but it can help you troubleshoot MP issues or understand what the manager does or doesn't do. Like the CA Launcher, we send a list of mods to WH3.exe to use. Both the CA Launcher and this manager use a file named used_mods.txt for this. For multiplayer you can compare used_mods.txt between players, they need to be completely the same. The manager doesn't touch WH3 or change any of the game files.

Issues and workarounds:

  • If you get incompatible versions warning in MP try disabling everything under For Modders in options.

  • if your Play button doesn't work you can try putting the app into the WH3 folder, thanks to KurtySuit for reporting and finding a workaround for this.

  • If your presets don't save try deleting everything inside %appdata%/wh3mm (paste that into explorer) or the actual wh3mm folder.

  • Try running as administrator.

  • Try deleting the app folder and unzipping again.

  • If you get the "attempting to launch with the optional parameters" popup in steam try restarting steam, or having steam minimized when pressing play, or adding wh3mm.exe as a non-steam game in steam and running it from there.

  • If you encounter an issue or error try pressing Ctrl+Shift+I, there is a chance there is some error data in red in the Console tab that would be useful to me. Logs are also written into the %appdata%\wh3mm\logs (you can paste this into win+r) folder.

Presets are saved into config.json inside %appdata%/wh3mm.

About flagging mods as outdated:
The CA Launcher auto-flags all mods as outdated after every major patch. As a modder I loathe this since in WH2 most of my mods had never actually been affected at all by a patch. If I can create a better way to find and flag outdated mods I'll add it, but I'm not going to do the same thing the CA Launcher does. Since v1.36.0 there is a smarter checker that looks inside mods to see if they have files/tables that could be outdated.

This has started to have enormous lag issues for me recently. Tried re-downloading and unzipping and the same, though I haven't made any changes to my computer or mods outside Steam systems. Any idea what's going on?

ive had an issue where when i launch the game thru launcher it doesn't save my video settings and must be redone with each launch.
It's not working. Why?

Thanks for adding the compatibility with shogun but it doesn't work properly. It doesn't load all the mods that I'm subscribed to while the CA launcher correctly displays all of them. My guess is that this happens because you're only allowed to set the path to the game and not the path to the steam workshop folder (34330) so it only loads the packs from the data folder but I could be wrong.

Using the Mod Manager, even the base game shows up as a mismatch, but it works when I use the Creative Assembly Launcher. This is a newer issue and makes the mod manager unusable. Just wanted to pass an update along.

Hey! Does anyone have a problem with using this mod manager and Rusted Pack File Manager (RPFM)? I tried creating a path to integrate the two programs so I could use the option to open mods with RPFM but nothing has worked.
Does anyone else have this problem? :steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm:

Anyone have an issue in Coop where you have to change a mods load order for something to work but both people have exact mod lists and still miss matching? IDENTICAL lists, something to do with moving mod order around.

You added an auto update feature and I've been waiting for this for so long!

May need to run wh3mm.exe "as administrator" for the auto-update feature to work properly.

I can't play with my friends, the same versions, the same mods with the same versions, I shared the sequence of mods so that EVERYTHING would be the same, but still friends can't log in, the incompatible version writes.
