Abstract
This is a port of the Basic Research and Engineering Research techs from LW2/LWOTC.

Overview
This mod introduces two new repeatable techs, Basic Research and Engineering Research. Completing each tech increases the respective Science or Engineering Scores by 5. This is effectively as getting an imaginary Scientist and Engineer. These imgainary scientists and engineers obviously can't be staffed, but they count for techs that have staff requirement. Imaginary scientists also increase research speed. Each time the tech is completed, its cost is increased.

In normal games this is probably redundant, and never has a use case, as you have more Scientists and Engineers then you know what to do with. In Covert Infiltration it's a bit harder to get those, so this is something that might help, although the author still thinks that the usefulness of this tech is questionable. Still, it is a good option to have in case the reader is screwed by RNG or something like that.

Configuration
The initial research time if configurable in XComStrategyTuning.ini. The increase in science/engineering score and the increase in research time for repeating the tech is in XComGameData.ini.

Compatibility
Redundant with LWOTC, althuogh it should technically work, which might be considered cheating a bit (since then you have two copies of the same tech so you can do it twice before increasing the cost).
There is a positive chance which is strictly smaller than 1 that this mod will work in vanilla XCOM2.
Can be used in existing campaigns.
Consider using this author's "Show Repeatable Tech Count" mod to see how many times these repeatable techs were researched.

Using several of your outstanding mods for my current campaign.

Interestingly enough, just now I got a datapad inspired and the engi one removed itself from the inspired ones (it stayed inspired for 4 months, other things got inspired during that, but the datapad one somehow was the moment engi one stopped being inspired).

if a repeatable tech is inspired it remains inspired forever. However, I did make efforts to ensure that basic research and basic engineering cannot be inspired. Maybe I made some error. I shall verify.

Just something that happened to me,but for like 2 in game months, the engineering research have been inspired, and no matter how many time I do it,itll be inspired

hehe. Just remember that the fake engineers can't really be stuffed anywhere, so that's not a long term solution... Neither are the fake scientists, since the cost increases every time...

All my CI attempts at getting more engineers and scientists end with Advent cleaning several corpses of ex-Xcom soldiers from their city streets.

This sounds useful.

I can send you some spreadsheets. :p

I was even thinking of maybe making part of the UFOPedia log entries or perhaps part of the research archives but i suppose if you just had the same thing appear over and over it would get a bit daft. Either that or an overlay via an entry similar to what rusty has done with his various glorious resource bar and overlay mods!

Or yeah...just, remember, I guess for now :D.

Or in your case, spreadsheets.
That's plural.
