Micro Auto Mining CV - BitBud

Description
Updated to 1.1! See notes at the end for changes.

The most unintentionally cute ship I've ever made. Really. Look at that face, tell me you don't want to point it at ice and let it zorch them up.

Level 12 unlock, Reforged Eden only I haven't tested in Vanilla.

I challenged myself to make the smallest ship I could, absolute bare minimum CV that still has very good harvest space while being able to mount about 4 auto dense/rich mining turrets. BitBud is the result. It's barely larger than my mining SVs! It's small enough for most bay doors too!
  • 16k Ammo storage for Deuterium for when you mount dense/rich asteroid mining lasers. Can swap for two more extensions if you just ice turrets however. (it's located next to the generator in the rear)
293k 311,750 harvest storage, even full it has enough thrust to move unless it's Magmacite but you REALLY shouldn't being this planetside!
  • Wifi
  • O2, Generator in close proximity to each other ensures a quick, painless death!
  • Place for four 3x3 turrets, or all 10 manual rich/dense laser drills as of v1.1!
There is enough physical space on this to mount fixed lasers of all kinds too, just use some carbon blocks to make it look pretty if you go that route. It's your ship now!

The premise of BitBud is to deploy from your main ship and let it cover you while it mines. Or better yet, let it do things while you're in the main ship! The ship is made of hopes, duct tape, and cardboard. The entire hull are cargo extensions, with a few carbon bits around. The stuff you want to protect is widely exposed and it only has small thrusters, but it's enough to move around with a full hold.

And yes I did all this to save 80k+ cpu and precious outer hull real estate.

But it's so cute!

UPDATE 7-19-22 - v1.1
  • Swapped Generator to Large Generator, solving power issues.
  • Added a Basic CPU Extender, enabling all 10 rich/dense laser drill compatibility out-of-the-box (do I even ship this in a box?).
  • *Slightly* more expensive to build, but still very small
  • Added a landing gear to the back since it did get back-heavy fully laden and caused some... landing issues.

Thanks! Actually uploading a revision tonight and will take that into account

Mostly I found out that fully laden it's back heavy so two struts aren't enough, added a third. Will add room for that extender tho

How cute!

I like small, effective, purpose built vessels.

I think if you move the side thrusters out, reconfigure the back to have one in stead of two forward thrusters, and fill in the spaces with cargo extenders, you may gain enough space to add a basic CPU extender and a smal generator.
