Extract It!

Description
/// [IMPORTANT] If this doesn't work in your game, it is most likely due to the file conflict with the other mods you're using — see "Compatibility" for more info!!! ///

Your medical cabinet is filled with bloodpacks and you don't use pulse laser, so alien blood is basically stored useless on your ship? Have some spare time and stabilozine?
Then perform a DNA blood analysis and get a chance to extract genetic material out of it! With a little bit of luck, you'll have your crew genetically improved (or abused) with no need to explore those dangerous ruins.

Now go and do some SCIENCE!

About this mod

As pretty much been said, it does nothing but giving you another spare-time action. Research terminal can be used to analyze alien blood (requires stabilozine) with moderate chance of getting unresearched genetic material as the result.
The probability of getting particular type of genetic material is the same as if you were researching unidentified material gathered any vanilla way. So don't ask me how high is it, because I don't know myself and don't really feel like testing.

The chance of success is not depending of your medical skill, so the analysis can be performed by either bored medic or curious assistant with no practical difference.

Compatibility

Any mods that override (eq change) alien blood, will most likely break its functionality. Everything that doesn't make change into it should work fine with no additional patches needed.
This mod only generates unidentified genetic material from the vanilla game - if the third-party genetic mods you're using don't introduce their own variants of unidentified genetic material, but rather allow you to get them by examining unidentified genetic material from the vanilla game, you'll most likely be able to get them as well.

(Please be aware that I don't keep track of whether these patches are updated or not - if you are playing with a patch and something goes wrong, contact its creator directly on the patch's Workshop page.)

To compensate your stabilozine expenses, you may try my Stabilobloom mod!

I'm sure you all know this, but with these things it's really easy to increase your medicine skill.

With the mod, it's possible to convert blood into genes early on, but you have to get the blood first. Crafting any medicine beforehand will advance your medicine skill faster.

You need tons of "Stabilozine" anyway for research and for crafting medicine because it's used in so many things.

I make a lot of "Plastiseal," which is much better and more useful than "Bandages."

"Bandages" can be bought in bulk, as well as made with "Organic Fiber." "Elastin" can also be obtained and built in large quantities early on if you have a mod that makes plants visible on the sonar.

Remaining "Elastin" for "Antibiotic Glue"

2 "Opium" -> 1 "Morphine"

1 "Opium" + 1 "Stabilozine" -> 1 "Naloxone" (This is also often needed for "Morphine" since "Opium" can no longer be used as a mildly addictive substance because the effects are now more severe.)

Yeah, that would be real cool tbf, but I'm not sure if it's even possible to do it without using Lua coding (I'm not great at that), just with XML. Researching genetic materials technically involves deconstructing them, and it doesn't interact with the skill system in any way like the fabrication system would. Not as far as I know it does.

I still remember playing medic before the talents rework. They had a perk that gave you some experience for "researching and combining genetic materials", but it was basically given for whatever you do at the research station - including researching blood with my mod. My character would get entire levels of extra experience just from doing this. Good times, haha.

Oh....aight, a little dissapointed, could've been a good way to train up med skill
Lagmanor  [author] 12 Aug @ 10:41pm
As says the description, it is not connected with medicine skill in any way. No Medical skill inflictting the chance, and no Medical skill gained by doing it.
Hydremajor117 12 Aug @ 10:14pm
Matter of fact, is it affected by the med skill of the character doing it ?
Hydremajor117 12 Aug @ 10:13pm
one question: does extracting DNA from blood help train the Med skill ?

:captainclown:

Хз, я в версиях Neurotrauma в принципе не шарю.
