White Tree of Gondor

As told in the Quenta Silmarillion:

Telperion, eldest of the Two Trees of Valinor, inspired the creation by the gods, as a gift to the Elves who dwelt beside them, of a white tree called Galathilion.

Many years later this tree bore a sapling that was called Celeborn, which was taken to the anchored isle of Tol Eressëa; and Celeborn in long turn sired a sapling, Nimloth, that was planted in Dúnedain Númenor.

And many years and many wicked things hence, Nimloth was cruelly slain and burned by Sauron on an alter to his master Morgoth, and all of Númenor was pulled by Ulmo beneath the sea...

...but Isuldur had managed to smuggle a fruit away...

And from this fruit, many thousands of years after the planting of Galathilion in Tirion, there sprang the sapling that started the line of Gondor's White Trees.

The first died also by Sauron; the second of plague.

The third White Tree of Gondor now stands barren and waiting for the return of the Line of the King.

Some say it will yet bear leaf of dark green and silver flower...a fourth White Tree...?
