HMCS British Columbia was a unique battleship built for Canada in British yards, being completed in 1929. She was laid down twice, with the change in administration in 1925 realizing that the previous administration had not designed the ship with any torpedo protection; scrapping the first keel and initial stages of the hull and re-ordering the ship shortly there-after, with improved torpedo defense and the inclusion of updated technology.

She would see service in multiple wars following her construction, surviving the Canadian-American war.
