From a campaign of Rule the Waves 2

HMCS Prince Edward Island was Canada's second dreadnought battleship, following on from the previous battleship Alberta. She was designed with the same protection and same speed as the previous Alberta but larger and with an additional twin 13" turret. Given that these ships could make 24 knots when completed, there was some debate as to whether they were battleships or battlecruisers, with the ships more accurately being described as an early attempt at the fast battleship.

HMCS Prince Edward Island was commissioned in 1913, and would serve in multiple wars after that. By the late 40s she and Alberta were considered for scrapping, but kept around to play a coastal defense role to free up the more modern battleships for deployment in Europe in the case of another European area conflict, as well as because of the loss of 2 battlecruisers in the Canadian-German war.

The war which would actually occur would be against the United States, forcing the old battleships to join with the main fleet to defend against the much larger American fleet. Prince Edward Island would be sunk in 1955.
