Guilli's Exploration and Expansion Tweaks
For version 4.0+ of the game.

Highly recomended in combination with my Guilli's Planet Modifier and Features mod!
Compatible with my Guilli's Technologies Guilli's Technologies mod!


This is a small mod to add a little flavour to start experience. It helps give you a feel of progression when exploring next to just surveying and expanding.


  • FTL speed has been lowered by a lot
  • Several techs added to speed up FTL from early to late game
  • Some survey speed techs were added too
  • Base planet hyperlane view distanced reduced by 1 jump

something seems to be off with this mod. My ships are super slow but the AI ships including neutral AI like Voidworms are at default speed and therefore super fast.

I am also usign NSC, ESC, ACOT, GIGA, PD and obv. Guilli's Tech... and Guilli's Planet Mod...
The complete Guilli's stack is at the bottom in my load order and should overwrite the changes from other mods... any idea?

Thank you for this mod, this is a much more natural solution to slow down exploration/expansion than slowing down non-ftl speeds. I very much like this

Using this with RS:SiS and Shrouded Regions, playing Payback, Large, x2.75 research (I'm a masochist). Few thoughts:

Suggest merging Mining and Research construction into a single (maybe rare) technology. They're very low value, usually not worth investing research, yet keep popping up. Maybe prerequisite tech for some Void Hive for organic empires later. 🤔

Survey speed don't matter. Even with all the slowdowns I'd force onto myself, very rarely would I need even the vanilla surveying tech, and this is using Away Teams from your other mod. It's not a very worthwhile investment unless playing on Huge with low AI empires, which'd be rather boring. Dunno what could be done about it; is overhauling surveying even plausible?

Distance reduction is OK. Perhaps some early tech to expand it for science ships, as crystals or cloaking isn't guaranteed? Wouldn't mind some nebulae-related tech either, as spawning inside one is a huge handicap the whole game.

Have steam check file integrity of stellaris, that'll force download/update any missing mod stuff too apparently.

Hello just downloaded the additional mods and it say it miss the file descriptor, have you any idea how to fix it ? i did try to download it again and removed it from my computer, but same issue after :(

Will work fine with those mods. This mod does not overwrite any ship stuff directly. So this will work 100% with those mods.

Hello, just to be sure, does this mod have any compatibility issues with mods like NSC3 which adds new ships, as well as new science type ship?

Updated to 4.0
