MagmaDebug - Visual debugging tools

MagmaDebug adds new debugging tools that provide the mod creators with more information about the inner workings of the game in real time in order to help them locate and solve problems.


You can press SHIFT+N in game to bring up a Node Tree Viewer screen, which shows the structure of the node tree at the current point in the game, including hooks created by other mods and where they're pointing to. Also it shows other useful information, such as the current filename and line.


You can press SHIFT+F to bring up a Quick Search screen, which allows you to search for any character, image or sound. It shows its name, file path and other useful details. Works with modded resources as well. You can use the " character to mark the start and/or end of the searched string in order to reliably search for resources with short names.

If you have MusicViewer installed, it also shows additional info about music files.


By pressing SHIFT+L you bring up a screen for running RenPy's static script checker. This can help locate any misspelled image/sound names and other possible problems with your mod. It checks both the base game and all the active mods.


Having this mod installed will automatically enable RenPy's developer mode, which you can access by pressing SHIFT+D, and other developer tools. It contains many useful things, like the console or variable viewer. More about that in the Ren'Py Documentation[www.renpy.org].
