Damselfly Scout Vehicle

The Damselfly is the convergence of theme and functionality. A narrow and compact build, retractable solar panels and landing gear were the order. But the further the shape developed, the more insectoid the build became.

Designed for high speed, low maneuvers, the Damselfly does what it says on the tin... scouts. The multiple downward facing atmospheric thrusters allows the Damsel to change direction in an instant. The Damsel also comes with a full compliment of hydrogen thrusters, allow functionality on non-atmospheric planets, free-space, as well as the ability to take-off and exit gravity wells under its own power.

The DSV is also capable of lifting well above its own mass. Magnetic pads on the hull allow for latching onto additional cargo containers or ships in need of transport. Magnetic pads on the landing gear allow it to stick to uneven terrain. All landing gear and solar panels fully retract for compact storage. For best results, only fold the solar panel wings with the landing gear down. Only fold the solar panels down when landed with the landing gear pistons fully extended. They will need a little clearance.

The DSV comes with multiple hydrogen tanks and one full oxygen tank for extended travel and refilling bottles. The oxygen tank and at least one hydrogen tank are accessible directly for this function.
