*THIS IS A VERY LARGE PACK*

*THE BIGGEST ONE I'LL LIKELY BE MAKING*

*CONSIDER THIS AN ALL-IN-ONE KINDA THING*

Welcome to the Doomsday Megapack!
That's right, the Doomsday Megapack!
This American apple pie institution
known as modding your mods
will cleanse any sense of cleanliness or quality
from the music which might actually help you relax!

Okay, now that I'm done ripping off the Offspring, let's get down to brass tax. This is a gigantic megapack of almost 900 songs and several thematically appropriate full albums on vinyl that have been ran through filters to make them sound as terrible as your character probably looks. The records sound dusty and cracked, the cassettes (from the upcoming pack) warble and bombard you with more fuzz than a hug from a boisterous German grandfather, and all in all it's barely a listening experience, let alone an enjoyable one. But if you're playing in a "6 Months Later" sort of situation or wanna gear up for some of the upcoming long-term apocalypse plans that the devs have then this is the perfect pack for you.

All the music is 1993 or earlier on release date, with several small exceptions (those exceptions being several songs that were released 1993 or earlier and performed in an old-timey piano style, so I felt like they could bend the rules slightly, plus their distro weight is much, much lower than the rest), and there's a healthy mix of genres ranging from radio pop, underground hip-hop, classic and modern country, punk and hardcore, metal and the blues and beyond. I tried to cover enough bases that if any servers do want to use this then there would be a large enough spread that most everyone should be able to find at least a few tracks that they like and you shoudn't have to mix it with any pristine-sounding music addons in your way-past-erosion worlds. Vinyl sounds better than the cassette pack I'm going to follow this one up with, since if you're going through all the trouble of setting up speakers and everything long after power has gone out you should at least get some better sound quality for your efforts, but there are some songs that are only going to be available on cassette so for those ones you'll unfortunately have to make do. It's doomsday, baby, you get what you get.

If this gets enough attention for anyone to actually have any requests that they'd like added to it, just comment or DM me and I'll see what I can do! Also I processed these in batches and tried to give some cursory listens to sporadic tracks to make sure that they sounded rough as hell but at least identifiable, but I obviously couldn't check them all so if there are any particular ones that you notice that are just too much, let me know and I can take them down a notch.

How can you write a description that long and not just put the list of songs

@john andersen I was so stoked when i figured that out, true music is definitely one of my favorites

Damn you are my hero of the week!!
It works from the context menu in the ground inventory.
If you look directly at it and select it with the right mouse button, it doesn't work.
And I've been thinking about downgrading the server

@john anderson have you tried selecting it from the context menu in the floor inventory? that's how it works for me, i was just listening to a few tapes and records to verify

It's just a pity that the vinyl player and boombox don't work in the current version.
Unfortunately I can't listen to your beautiful records with it

Ah cool, I see. Yeah might have to save a couple different chain presets for the different genres perhaps

@joey4track i've got a plugin that's giving me exactly the vinyl sound that i want, it's so perfect but it just explodes the file size, i'm spending this morning fiddling with it to find the sweet spot of intelligible enough to tell what the song is but banged up enough that it's clearly the apocalypse, but also in a chain that i can batch off multiple genres and sounds with. i thought i had it but then it turned out that pretty much everything from the entire blues and old country genres got blasted into a wall so square one again. i play six month later campaigns more than anything else so i've got a passion to get this one right since it's what i'll be using in most of my games. I'll definitely check that plugin out, if i can't use it I absolutely know several people who can and will!

Not sure what you are using for your audio post processing but if you are able to use VST's maybe check out a little plugin called the Vulf Compressor by Goodhertz. It might be a little expensive but if you produce other types of audio it might be worth it. I make synthwave sometimes and it's perfect to get a little of that authentic vinyl wobble effect
