My experience is that when the glitch happens, it can often be solved by just making sure the second deck is out of the bag. Beyond that, I don't know how to solve it.

that makes sense of the second deck! but how do I deal with the blank face glitch?

the blank faces is a glitch. The second deck is to handle his variant character card. you can't shuffle a faceup card into a deck in TTS, so those cards are for that.

Good work for the most part, but Johnny Rocket's deck seems to be split in two: one with the right back, but all blank faces, and the other with the back of each card identical to that card's face.
