Description and Lore

Knightmare Defense Industries presents the Siren II Frigate. An updated design using new weaponry, the Siren II offers faster acceleration and substantial firepower. Filling the role of Frigate in KDI's 4th generation of warships, the Siren II is a substantial improvement over older models such as the Wendigo II and Falcata. The interior has also received a much needed update.

The Siren II is armed with 4 fixed, forward firing Artillery guns and 24 large turret emplacements. The Siren II's typical attack strategy is to strafe targets with its substantial firepower, keeping its armor facing the enemy. Great concern was placed on survivability during the design process, in particular regarding the hydrogen tanks in the engine. The interior is more cramped than the original despite the larger size, earning some complaints from crews.

The Siren II is named after the mythological Sirens, which would lure sailors from the ship's and to their doom.

Credit and Links

I use a light changing script to switch around the interior light settings. Its an older script and I couldn't find the original creator. The script was updated by ColTeH for my use. I used some of Whiplash141's scripts on the ship, including their braking script for "flip and burn" situations, and a few of their mods for taking the screenshots. The mods I used to assist with the screenshots came recommended by Taidyr, who makes some fantastic content as well. Thanks to Keq, another excellent builder who helped me improve my interiors. I used Hadley T. Canine's Large Magellenic Cloud Skybox mod for screenshots. Links below. I got inspiration for this ship from ships shown in The Expanse RPG book, I highly recommend The Expanse's books and show.

If you want a quick color conversion, say to UNN or MCRN colors, then I recommend this block recoloring mod, which will greatly simplify the process. Color Replacer Blocks - V2

Author's Notes
Alright, one more down. It's funny how long a list of ships I have that I want to make or remake at this point. Likely will never get to all of them. I've got new interior design, new turrets, new concerns over survivability, there's a lot. Will have to see what happens though. Anyways, as for the Siren II, I think this is a pretty solid improvement. Though I do wish the inteiror was a bit larger, it does the job. The turret placement works really well for super firing, and other ships I considered making just didn't have the right shape. The Siren II was very much the leader in terms of performance. Did a lot of testing because I started working on this around when Warfare 2 dropped. I'm satisfied with the final design, but I wish it was a bit more sturdy tbh. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I hope you enjoy it!

Did an update to try and improve the survivability. Definitely a learning process with the new Warfare 2 update.

@silver.talon Neat. Not familiar with that script actually, I guess I need to look it up.

And really not sure what's going on there. I actually did some testing the other day with this and the hydro thrust died for no apparent reason and it took copy/pasting to turn it back on.

Heh I like it so far, though getting all the hydrogen thrusters upgraded to Aryx RCS thrusters was quite an endevour last night. I had to because I'm using the Expanse Flight Control Script. It provides more functionality than whips, though I liked his too. Also for some reason, and this goes beyond you Papple2, the turrets don't want to don't auto engage a locked target unless I have them fire first. Probably a keen thing.

@silver.talon Thanks! The only concern I have for it at this point is mainly the ammo storage, which there are cargo containers under each turret for. This does a pretty good job of keeping things good, but the ring of 8 assault turrets could be an issue. I'll be trying to test things out and find the most ideal ammo storage method though. As for what ship will be next... who knows... but there are some in the works already.

Hey Papple2, this one's a beauty! I'm setting up a DS for a lightly "quality of life" server, that's gonna be 97% vanilla. I'll test this ship out as a wandering mercenary, and see how it does on fuel economy, independent logistics and maintenance, and battle performance. I'm looking forward to the next ship in the line, and kinda hoping for the Griffin.
