Description and Lore

Knightmare Defense Industries presents its version of the Asp, a small Patrol Ship. The Asp is an MCRN ship built by BSE. KDI obtained permission to use and modify the design for its own uses. Notable changes include landing gear, an additional connector, more lateral thrust, artillery instead of rockets, hydrogen engines instead of reactors, and a reworked interior.

The Asp is designed as a small, very inexpensive design. It is fast, but lacks the usual survivability of larger KDI ships. It does not carry a Jump Drive, limiting it to short range missions or forcing it to be carried with larger ships. It carries a few turrets and fixed artillery, but that is the extent of its armament. Given its low production cost, the ship is likely to serve in squadrons, allowing it to assault more heavily armed targets. The ship is also capable of limited atmospheric operations, with sufficient lateral thrust for earth-like planets. The Asp uses Hydrogen Thrusters for propulsion, and there are 4 O2/H2 Generators onboard for refueling. The Asp is equipped with a Survival Kit for emergencies, and Magnetic Plates for landing.

The Asp Class Fast Attack Ship is a ship class from the Expanse Books, named after a term for venomous snakes.

This ship only has one program block due to its size, and I chose Whip;ash141's retrobraking script for it, to allow for the usual "flip and burn". The mods I used to assist with the screenshots came recommended by Taidyr, who makes some fantastic content as well. Thanks to Keq, another excellent builder who helped me improve my interiors. I used Darth Biomech's Milky Way Skybox mod for screenshots. Links below. I got inspiration for this ship from ships shown in The Expanse RPG book, I highly recommend The Expanse's books and show.

Author's Notes
It's really hard for me to make small ships. I want to fill them with too much. This is by far the smallest, about 1/4 the size in blocks as the Monoceros, the next largest. Thanks again to Keq for building a good version of the Asp, which I promptly acquired and have modified extensively with permission. Just went with the same name, as it didn't seem to make sense to create a new one for it. Not much else to really say actually. Just a good, small ship.

Hey, I've been designing ship's using Whips Retro Thruster Braking Script aswell, but recently, i can't get it to work in newer ships. In old ones and in yours from the workshop it works just fine tho. Is there anything I have to look out for when setting it up or running it?
