U.S.G. Eota

Description
Once thought lost to the sea, the U.S.G. Eota is a refurbished relic of the past. The Eota has a unique design, splitting the sub between the Aft and Fore sections, with an open 'bridge' section between them.

The bridge is kept dry using a rare piece of alien technology, which generates a semi-solid 'hull' of hypercondensed gas around the bridge, allowing things to pass through without letting the surrounding ocean flood in. Crewmates should be careful to avoid falling off the bridge and into the abyss...

FULL_FEATURE_LIST

1. Automated chat-based alarm system. When flooding or smoke is detected in a room, a message will be sent to chat after 3 seconds, warning the crew. Another message is sent when the room is safe again. It will also send warnings for reactor meltdowns and if the reactor shuts down or turns on.

2. Unique "Airlock-less" design. The bridge can be freely entered and exited by players and enemies alike. Mind your step.

3. A password-locked quarantine system, which can lock down either the Aft or Fore sections. When active, all doors in the section will lock, alarms will activate, lights will turn off and a chat message will be sent. The default passwords are severance and necrosis (for fore and aft sections).

4. Decentralized armoury. Instead of having a single room devoted to weapons storage, secure safes can be found in each section of the sub, each of which is a weapons locker.

5. The Hellion Armoured Personnel Transport, a heavy, high-speed shuttle built for long-range EVA missions. It features a weak, fuel-efficient reactor.

6. A long-range radio room that also allows communication between the Eota and its shuttle. It also transmits messages to chat at a longer range than headsets.

7. Holographic status monitors at several areas that provide relevant information for that area. (Command Room has one for fires, flooding and reactor status. Engine Room has one for reactor temperature and meltdown status. The Bridge has two for current velocity.

8. Every single room has a lightswitch, for all the dark-mode users out there.

BACKSTORY

Thirty years ago, the U.S.G. Eota set off for the Great Sea, becoming the first submarine to descend to such depths. Three days after they arrived, radio communication with the crew was lost, and the Eota was never seen again...

Until today.

A veteran salvage crew sweeping the Great Sea for wrecks discovered the Eota drifting, derelict and dark. Upon boarding it, they found that it was somehow still dry on the inside, and in relatively good condition. There were no signs of any creatures boarding the sub, but they did find a majority of the crew and a number of logbooks, which told the story of the final week of the Eota's journey.

According to the logbooks, the crew discovered an unidentified alien artifact on the sea floor shortly after entering the Great Sea. They retrieved it for study and, eventually, to sell it off, but could never figure out what its purpose was. Over the course of the next six days, most of the crew gradually entered a state of extreme psychosis, and either killed themselves or their fellow crewmates. The Captain was the last survivor, and was found dead in their quarters, apparently having intentionally overdosed, so they could die on their own terms.

The crew discovered the artifact hidden in one of the ballasts, with a crude shrine built around it, and quickly identified it as a psychosis artifact. Given the date of the expedition, this was likely the first psychosis artifact to be discovered. They towed the submarine back to a station soon after, and auctioned it off to the highest bidder.

KNOWN_ISSUES

Bots will frequently kill themselves on the bridge by climbing down the ladders. You can prevent your crew from doing this by setting the ladders to be Ignored. This will not prevent VIPs or prisoners from doing this, so be sure to lock them in a room (The Lounge can be locked using the levers labeled "Lounge Hatch Lock.")
Please note this will not prevent bots from falling off the bridge normally, and will make them unable to climb back up by themselves.

It is not possible to activate quarantine in both sections at once. Activating quarantine in one will deactivate quarantine in another. There is almost certainly a way to fix this but I don't know it.

The Hellion seems to sink much more easily as of the recent update, and is less stable vertically. I don't know why this is, but I made some minor changes to it try to reduce the issue.

LOG_END

The Eota and its shuttle were both heavily inspired by Dead Space, particularly the USG Ishimura and the USG Kellion.

Special thanks to Cyntrax's Crew and my friend Honor Guard for their help testing the Eota and for their input on the design.

This is my second submarine so far, and took me several weeks to finish. If you find any serious issues that I forgot or didn't find myself, and that I am able to correct, please tell me in the comments! Any help improving the submarine is appreciated.

I tried my best to keep the Eota a fair, balanced submarine with unique flaws and advantages, but there are likely balancing issues that I didn't notice or catch on to during playtesting. Please be aware of this when using the Eota in a campaign.
