PROJECT RETIRED (Read First)
THIS PROJECT IS OFFICIALLY RETIRED.

Just to be clear... You can still download the modpack in Main & Download.

The source code will remain on Github[github.com] for anyone that wants to pull from it or continue it. You are free to do whatever you want with the code as is, in accordance to the MIT License. The original branch for V9.32 can be found here[github.com], if you need the Readme. :)

Thanks to everyone for downloading this... old-fashioned modpack. It was a pleasure to cater to such a small, niche community like this. A lot of revitalizing/tinkering was done to make this pack the way it is, plus some very creative users, like Oni, who pushed the game to its limits and created some fun TH gamemodes.
Windows 11 Users, PLEASE READ
Windows 11 users cannot run the batch files.
  • After a couple of updates, Microsoft decided to deprecate the 'wmic' command, which is vital in my batch files, and added preventative measures for users running scripts download online.
  • Good news! There are workarounds. Please watch this comprehensive video by good2game (watch at 19:15): https://youtu.be/vpkMvaNEXiA?si=BzyXDK7QC2LtJFaE&t=1155

Main & Download
If you're looking for the topmost essential and most interesting mods for Vegas 2, you've come to the right place! Easy installation/uninstallation via batch files, courtesy from a diehard Vegas 2 fan.

Also... thanks SirBarren for posting my random guide.

You can download this pack here (V9.32): https://github.com/PkmnYellow/RSV2-Modpack/releases/latest
Mods
The mods in this bundle pack are listed as followed:
  • Realistic Reshade (shaders)
  • TeknoR6Vegas2 (16 player co-op, terrorist hunt, versus, 99 terrorists)
  • Terrorist Hunt Control (keybinds, AI tweaks)
  • Texmod & Textures (retextures)
  • The Complete Overhaul (weapons balance, terrorist spawning, AI tweak)
  • The Complete Spawning Overhaul (increases terrorist spawn in waves)
  • Vegas 2 Realism (big weapons balance, a bit more challenging)
  • Vegas 2 Terrorist Hunt Dedicated Server Pre-setup (.ini tweak, 24/7 TH via Task Scheduler)
  • Unofficial Camera FOV Fixes (60, 70, 75, 90, and 100° only)
Installation
Right-click Run.bat, run as administrator, and follow the instructions accordingly.

You do have to run Run.bat as administrator every time. The first time might take a while, since it's accurately grabbing your Vegas 2 directory, but afterwards, it'll be instant.

For more information, check out the readme.rtf, or comment down below if you have any questions.
Updating
If you want to upgrade to a newer version, just simply drag and drop directories.txt and installedmods.txt to the new RSV2 Mods folder. That's really all there is to it.
Compatibility
The Terrorist Hunt Dedicated Server WILL NOT work with mods in combination when hosted.
  • Excluding Realistic ReShade... Honestly not too sure why this is, since I'm under the impression it gets its assets from the game configs themselves. However, when attempting to change the number of terrorists via Terrorist Hunt Control keybinds, it resets it back to the default amount of terrorists when an enemy is killed. Not entirely sure about the other mods.
  • No known fixes as of yet. Until then, modded sessions are exclusively hosted in-game.
Texmod WILL NOT work alongside with TeknoR6Vegas2.exe. It has to be one or the other.
  • These two programs were not meant to run coincide with each other, since they are distinctly different.
  • No known fixes as of yet. If anyone has knowledge of C++ to continue its development, the source code to TeknoR6Vegas2 is here[github.com]. Currently under the GPLv3 license.

Mod wise, not many compatibility issues are a real problem, unless you manually install 2 different weapon mods. I've ensured through batch installation that nothing conflicts with each other.
Known Issues
The Terrorist Hunt Dedicated Server pre-setup cannot rotate maps, and finishing a map reverts it back to Attack & Defend.
  • The reason for this is unknown. The only logical explanation I can think of is that Ubisoft left the R6Vegas2 dedicated server with Versus modes exclusively, and probably abandoned the rest, due to Vegas 2 more than likely having time constraints, or it simply being a flop compared to Vegas 1.
  • No known fixes as of yet. Until the server gets expanded upon, The only way to host Terrorist Hunt via dedicated server is to set it up manually, and once completed by the players, rehost the server to change maps.
Realistic ReShade can cause a crash upon launch.
  • During startup, it will throw out a General Protection Fault error. At first, I thought it was merely a VRAM problem with integrated GPUs and such, but the wiki[en.wikipedia.org] states otherwise.
  • A fix was found by SuicidalSloth, from his guide here. In short, he mentions installing legacy DirectX dependencies, possibly removed by one of Microsoft's updates.
FAQ

Do I have to use the batch files?
At the end of the day... it's completely optional. They're used for your convenience to press a button, follow instructions, and automatically install the necessary files with backups of the original.

If you want to install everything manually, just drag and drop each folder within the mod folder into Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (or Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for Steam).

Is it absolutely necessary to run Directory Finder/Run.bat in Administrator mode?
Technically, yes. If you install R6Vegas2 in a default directory like Program Files (x86), it is absolutely necessary.

Do I have to run it in Administrator mode every time before I run Vegas 2?
It's a one-time deal, you run it only once to install/uninstall or modify, and you're good to go!

Does Realistic ReShade fix the gun sound bug?
Allegedly. The main reason for the sound bug is a mix of network latency and in-game sound mishandling (AKA, inaccessible source code from the game). Objectively, saying a bug like this is fixable via a shader injector is more than likely the butterfly effect.

On the other hand, from personal experience, when playing with local (same state) friends, the sound bug tended to initiate, then resolve itself. That is, of course, if everyone has all the proper mods installed. A single shader is not guaranteed to fix a bug.

Will these mods work for Steam, Nonsteam, and/or the Uplay version?
Yes, to all. Platform doesn’t matter.

Can I use these mods to play with others, despite them not having any?
From what I researched, whenever the host is hosting an in-game match, it's usually dependent of what they have, other than Realistic ReShade, since that's client side.

Preferably, I personally install all the necessary mods in that time. I've witnessed some interesting glitching when not having the proper mods, like t-posing, and non-existent enemies killing me.

My virus protection is telling me this is harmful.
That’s more than likely a false positive[www.majorgeeks.com], since it detects the batch scripts as malicious, naturally. I have no intention, or interest, in even creating malicious code in the only Vegas 2 mod compilation pack ever created. Always grab the modpack from the link above.

If you sincerely have your doubts, feel free to check the source code here[github.com]. My work is public knowledge.

When I host the Terrorist Hunt Dedicated Server, me and my friends can't find it.
So... this is an odd one, but bare with me:
The developers did not accommodate for TH for Vegas 2's dedicated server, so the only hosting option was the Versus gamemodes exclusively. Long story short, go to Versus\Find Match.

Why won't Terrorist Hunt Control keybinds fully work?
Run Vegas 2 in Administrator mode. Otherwise, it will not fully function (due to the location of the game).

Have fun, and happy playing/hosting!

So, first things first... run Texmod Configuration.bat for the re-textures you want. This process should create a Texmod Autoload shortcut in the RSV2 folder directory for you to run the game with re-textures. Without running Texmod Autoload, you just get vanilla textures.

Oooo, that's an interesting one. You might have to delve into Realistic Reshade to modify that, or the PCKellerEngine.ini. I'd suggest maybe contacting the creator here: https://www.nexusmods.com/rainbowsixvegas2/mods/8?tab=description

maybe im being stupid, but I have no idea on how to use texmod, can you explain it to me like I'm five to set this up?

Heyo! As I've said to Evielovely, you can download the NoCD crack here [github.com] (updated link). Backup your actual 'R6Vegas2_Game.exe' in the Binaries folder and replace it with the .exe above.

If you're still around, do you mind elaborating a little bit? Show me a screenshot of command prompt, and I can assist you further. Normally the drives are auto-detected, and displayed to be an option to select.

good day,

thank you for taking the time to make my childhood game the greatest again. i appreciate you taking the time to make all this happen for the R6V2 community. i hope this message finds its way to you, as i am having a bit of trouble trying to run the mod.

i am no way tech savvy, but i am having the same trouble as Evielovely, where the same thing is popping up. however, i am not farmillar with the solution that is talked about. i was wondering if it is possible to get assistance on this by chance?

Sincerely, a R6V2 Fan

I type the number my drive is in, and it says it's not valid

Alright, let's start from the top:
I didn't realize the Unofficial FOV Fix got removed as a guide entirely, and never knew of that problem, as I've never tested it at a high FOV like 90. I'd recommend trying the successor of that old one, instead of the one in this modpack. I'm just the guy who simply combined this mod, along with others, into a somewhat easy-to-install pack. I'm not too savvy on the graphical side, so I'd suggest messaging in the above guide to see if the creator will add 90 FOV to his WFVM mod.

I don't know if you use the Texmod autoload.exe for auto-loading those textures, but I've never experienced a significant slowdown, other than startup time. :/ As far as I can tell, I don't think there's a newer version, unfortunately.
TheDelinquent 2024 年 2 月 20 日 下午 7:28
Also, is there a fix for the gun viewmodels, or am I stuck with seeing my own shoulders all game if I want 90FOV? Because I don't think that WFVM mod works with this modpack very well.
TheDelinquent 2024 年 2 月 20 日 下午 7:03
I'm trying to run this in Compat. mod for XP SP3, and it's behaving the same. I'll just have to do without the textures, I guess.
TheDelinquent 2024 年 2 月 20 日 下午 6:00
I'm having trouble with the Texmod program itself on Windows 11, where it is either constantly freezes up every other second and I can't really do anything with it, or it's just running EXTREMELY slowly. Is there a newer version I might be able to use that alleviates this issue, or should I try to run this in compatibility mode?
