Description

River Avon Shipyards, a subsidiary of Knightmare Defense Industries, presents the RAS version of the Longbow Class Destroyer. A modified version of the MCRN Longbow, the RAS version features additional PDC's, more torpedo launchers, and a larger gauss cannon as the primary armament. The ship is designed as an attacker, and with the AWE Ares Gauss Cannon, it is very capable in this role. This does come at some cost, as the RAS version is heavier and its Jump Drives have reduced range. The Longbow is named for the old Welsh longbow, which proved to be a very effective weapon time and time again.

The RAS Longbow uses Epstein Drives and RCS thrusters from Aryx-Lynxon, producing 186 MN of force. The ship's Jump Drives have a maximum range of 1,998 Km. The ship is armed with 2 Astraeus Torpedo Launchers, 4 Poseidon Salvo Launchers, 1 Ares Gauss Cannon, 2 Apollo Railgun Turrets, 2 Athena Railgun Turrets, 18 Guardian PDC's, and 7 Interior Turrets. Two doppler radar units have been equipped for long range ship detection.

Power is provided by 2 Large Reactor, and 22 Small Reactors with a battery backup system. The hull is mostly light armor, but reinforced around critical components and at the front. The ship has a medical room, survival kit and basic production facilities. Parachutes and landing gear are equipped for planetary operations.

Credit and Links

I use a light changing script to switch around the interior light settings. Its an older script and I couldn't find the original creator. The script was updated by ColTeH for my use. I used some of Whiplash141's scripts on the ship, including their braking script for "flip and burn" situations, and a few of their mods for taking the screenshots. The mods I used to assist with the screenshots came recommended by Taidyr, who makes some fantastic content as well. Thanks to Keq, another excellent builder who helped me improve my interiors. I used Darth Biomech's Milky Way Skybox mod for screenshots. Links below. I got inspiration for this ship from ships shown in The Expanse RPG book, I highly recommend The Expanse's books and show.

Rapid fire! Let's go. Two uploads in one night. These ships have been ready for a few days, ish. Not sure I'm really doing them justice, should probably take more time on the uploading and screenshots. But anyways, the Longbow, again. This is rather extensively modified though. Most of the interior has been redone to some extent. The weaponry has also been overhauled and upgraded. The Gauss Cannon is a treat. Not sure what else to add really. I like this design a lot and I'm glad I could make something more of it. Hope you enjoy!

@silver.talon Thanks! It's possible that ship will be remade, but I'll probably be waiting for warfare 2 before focusing on vanilla ships.

Honestly would love to see blocks like the Sci-Fi Ions and Atmos be replaced by vanilla equivalents on paste if the people didn't have that DLC. Probably not gonna happen tho given some of the blocks don't even have any vanilla equivalents :/

@[Omega] Thanks! Yeah, I'm really not a fan of how the dlc's work. I like a lot of the blocks, but I want my ships to be as usable by everyone as possible.

Once built a ship which ended up unintentionally having all the DLC. Was a pain.

Was wondering why heavy industry was listed as a required dlc... then realized that the beam blocks are from that, not vanilla :/ They only exist to attach the landing gear, so I switched out one block there to make sure they would remain attached. Should be good now.
