A young girl struggles with the sudden loss of her mother. Desperately, she tries to rebuild her mother’s statue, but always fails - what is gone cannot be restored. Gris resists this truth, and each time she nears completion, something dark and disastrous strikes.
Through the five stages of grief, she slowly accepts. Instead of rebuilding the statue, she rebuilds herself, rediscovering her voice, which becomes her healing. Perhaps she and her mother both sang, or simply loved to sing so deeply that her voice awakens her youthful spirit and the memory of her mother’s soul.
At last, she embraces her loss and kisses the statue goodbye. A single tear falls from the stone - a silent farewell. She turns to the stars, choosing life, while leaving her mother in peace, beneath them in the realm of the dead.
However, I have to note that I absolutely did not like Neva, it is a pathetic and lazy plagiarism of Miyazaki cartoons and a crude self-repetition, with a clearly degraded quality of visuals and woke heroine. Gris squeezed tears out of us because it was a sincere masterpiece, Neva is trying to do this because authors wanted a lot of money. This is not a real game and not a real artwork.
Because I find this the best analysis of GRIS out there to say nothing about how I found myself inspired by this one, I provided a link to this guide within the Foreword of my own, available here; https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3392939462
I hope that's alright! Thank you for sharing.
