Information

Panther G - the latest and most massive serial modification of the medium German Panther tank. The tank had excellent frontal armor, which could only be penetrated by long-barreled guns with a caliber of 88 mm and higher, while the armor of the sides and stern left much to be desired and was even struck by small-caliber guns. Panther was distinguished by high mobility, and the patency of the Panther was simply exemplary, which is why some experts call the Panther the best medium tank of the WW2. The tank was armed with a 75-mm KwK42 gun, which could effectively fight almost all tanks of the Allies and the USSR, and a 7.92-mm MG34 machine gun paired with the gun. The disadvantages of the Panther include: high silhouette, heavy weight (as for a medium tank), low reliability of the chassis, high cost and complexity in production and maintenance.
Panther G began to enter service with tank units of the Wehrmacht and SS troops in the spring of 1944. It was used by the Germans on the Eastern and Western fronts. It played a main role in all offensive and defensive operations of Germany in 1944-1945, being the most massive Panzerwaffe tank during this period. Modification of the Ausf. The G was produced from March 1944 until the capitulation of Nazi Germany, during which time 3,749 tanks of this type were built.
Also in this version, the gun mask was improved, its lower part was changed so the shells did not ricochet off it into the roof of the hull. The sides have become thicker, but their angle of inclination has decreased. The motor got worse.
