PBY-5A Catalina Flying Boat

The PBY was originally designed to be a patrol bomber, an aircraft with a long operational range intended to locate and attack enemy transport ships at sea in order to disrupt enemy supply lines. With a mind to a potential conflict in the Pacific Ocean, where troops would require resupply over great distances, the U.S. Navy in the 1930s invested millions of dollars in developing long-range flying boats for this purpose. Flying boats had the advantage of not requiring runways, in effect having the entire ocean available.

• 20x Bombs, enough for 2x carpet bombing runs of 10 bombs, bombsight.

• Sought to make a 1:1 scale, so a little lower in the water with a bit of a cramped interior.
  
• Sought to make it a bit arcadey for easy flight
  
• So...much...weight reduction (required to keep in buoyant) Much of the plane is made from wing blocks and 1x1 slopes. Even the base is empty fuel tanks for extra buoyancy.
  
• Colour scheme is in WW2 US Navy blue/green colours
  
• Update of a PBY Catalina I made almost 3 years ago!!!, wanted to see how my building has improved since then and with the new parts.
