Won't Starve: A Recipe Overhaul

Description
Won't Starve: A Recipe Overhaul

DESCRIPTION

This mod tweaks and reduces over 80 crafting costs across the game to allow for more item variety in early gameplay and promote off-meta items like Bee Mines or Night Lights. It is aimed at players who have played many hours yet havent experienced a majority of the games content, or newer players who wish for an "easier" difficulty. Game balance was not a factor in these changes: this mod does make the game significantly easier for competent players, and is a sort of "easy mode".

Where possible, recipes have been changed in ways that still make sense within the world, for example, the Booster Shot recipe now uses Blue Caps, which already healed the player and are easier to collect than Rot early game. No more waiting for 8 berries to go mouldy before you can get your HP back.

Among the biggest changes are boat parts being cheaper, the Walking Cane being accessible in autumn, Magic tab items not needing gems, and some changes to Refine items to make parts like Chests less grindy. HP Recovery items are easier to make, less common weapons and armor are much cheaper and rare items are replaced with common ones in many areas.

A full list of changes is available here: https://pastebin.com/FNsT3z63 Every change has a corresponding toggle in the config menu of the mod, so you can disable specific changes made if you choose to.

COMPATIBILITY

This mod changes many vanilla recipes and may clash with other mods that also change those recipes. Disabling those specific recipes in the config should fix any issues though.

make a reversed version called "will starve" that instead increases the cost of recipes

I will say this mod is also really great for singleplayer, as you can spend less time grinding and more time doing actually interesting things.

This comment made my day. Thank you so much! Yes, I tried to keep all the recipes thematically appropriate, the telltale heart for example nullifies the life regen of the amulet if you just try to craft it for infinite HP abuse or something, but also fits the flavour of the item really well. Some changes dont make sense from the pastebin alone, like the Rabbit House change is actually to make it identical to the Pig House recipe just for clarity, not to make it cheaper. Im still testing this day by day and will make further changes if something doesnt fit or is exploitable, and Im taking suggestions if you find anything!

I never realized how unnecessarily expensive some the old recipes were until reading the pastebin. I also really liked the clever use of keeping the theme of the item (like telltale heart for the amulet) and making things consistent, like the recipes for the cold and shadow amulets. Very clever mod I would totally recommend to new players to experiment with items.
