Hey everyone! This guide covers how to create your own question packs for Trivia Tricks, including how to share them with friends and the world through Steam Workshop!

Inside Trivia Tricks you can preview how your created packs will look to players, alongside create new packs and update your existing ones. You can create Workshop packs using any spreadsheet software of your choosing.

Welcome to Ganymede's Workshop Lab, the one-stop-shop for testing, uploading and updating your Workshop mods!

To access Ganymede's Workshop Lab select 'Manage Workshop' on the main menu. Opening Ganymede's Lab will create an example Workshop pack called 'ExampleWorkshopV3' in your Documents folder. The 'Documents/TriviaTricks' folder is where you'll create Workshop mods!

From the preview menu click the 'Load Category' button. Select the generated 'ExampleWorkshopV3' file to see an example Trivia Tricks themed question pack!


This menu allows you to cycle through all of the questions in a question pack and see how they will look in Trivia Tricks. The correct answer will be striped, and the option order will be randomized according to the 'fixedOrder' value selected.

Please note that files cannot be edited while inside the lab, only previewed!

Now you've seen the example, let's make our own question pack!

Make sure you've visited Ganymede's Workshop Lab at least once to generate the example files and folders, then go into your Documents folder. There will be a new 'TriviaTricks' folder.

Inside you'll see two folders called 'Images' and 'Workshop'. The Images folder isn’t necessary yet, so open the 'Workshop' folder instead. You should have one folder already created, 'ExampleWorkshopV3', which is an example question pack we've provided to help you get started.

'Documents/TriviaTricks/Workshop/ExampleWorkshopV3/'

If you can also see any other 'ExampleWorkshop' folders, such as 'ExampleWorkshopV2' or a folder called 'ExampleWorkshop' without a 'V', then feel free to ignore them!

The simplest way to get started is to create a copy of the 'ExampleWorkshopV3' folder and rename it to something appropriate for your question pack! Once this is done, open your new folder and also rename the file contained within. Now we can start making some questions!

Question packs are a folder containing a single .csv file, which is a standard text file formatted as a spreadsheet. We recommend Microsoft Excel or LibreOffice's Calc (Available for free)[www.libreoffice.org] for building question packs.


When you've opened the file, you will see the top column has the following;

• uniqueId = This is the internal ID for each question and must be unique for every question. We recommend using numerical order, but they do not need to be sequential. Trivia Tricks uses this value to track which questions players have already seen to ensure unseen questions are prioritized. As such, if you update a pack and delete a question, do NOT reuse that ID.
  
• question = This is the actual question as will be displayed in Trivia Tricks.
  
• optionA, optionB, optionC, optionD = These are the four options that will be presented to the player. You can leave optionC and optionD empty if you want to have a question with only 2 or 3 answer choices.
  
• fixedOrder = If this is 'FALSE' then Trivia Tricks will randomize the order in which the options are presented to the player. If this is 'TRUE' then Trivia Tricks will show the answer options in the same A/B/C/D order they were entered into the spreadsheet, which is useful for showing numerical answers in chronological order.
  
• correctAnswer = Write A, B, C, or D here. This tells Trivia Tricks which of the respective options (optionA, optionB, optionC, or optionD) is the correct answer.
  
• credit = Want a credit to be shown alongside a question? Enter a name here! If left blank then the credit icon will just say the question was 'Player Created'. Don’t leave it as 3-Tricks, as we don’t want to be credited for your hard work!
  
• imageURL = You can link to an online image, which will then be shown during gameplay. Keep in mind that the domain will be visible to players before the game begins, so host your images somewhere with good moderation!
  
• answerExplanation = This is a piece of text that will be shown for a short time after the right answer is revealed. You can use this to explain to players why that answer is correct, or offer additional fun facts on the subject matter!

Try editing the existing questions, or add a couple new ones, and then go back to Ganymede's Workshop Lab to see the result!

Once you’ve completed your question pack it’s time to upload it! Inside the ‘Manage Workshop’ page press ‘Create’


Here is what each field means:

• Select File = This is the CSV you created containing your questions! It should be placed in 'Documents/TriviaTricks/Workshop/*YourQuestionPack*/'
  
• Select Image = This is the image that will represent your Workshop pack. This will be shown in Steam Workshop and Trivia Tricks’ Categories Menu. This should be placed in ‘Documents\TriviaTricks\Images’ (no subfolders) and all common image formats (including png and jpg) are accepted. 268x268 size will create a full image in Workshop
  
• Category Title = This is the title that your Workshop pack will use in the Steam Workshop, the Categories Menu, and will also be shown alongside your question in-game.
  
• Item Description = This is the description that will be shown alongside your Workshop pack in Steam Workshop.
  
• Visibility = Here you can select 'Public', 'Friends Only', 'Hidden' or 'Unlisted'. Lobby hosts can play any packs they are subscribed to with anyone regardless of visibility setting. Instead, this option affects how the pack appears in Steam Workshop searches and in the Categories Menu. If a client joins a game without access to a specific Workshop pack that the host is subscribed to, that pack will appear as a 'Hidden Pack' to that client. 'Unlisted' packs are accessible to anyone with a direct link and will appear in the Categories Menu, but they won’t show up in Workshop searches. You can update visibility settings even after the pack is created!

Once you click ‘Create’ the Steam Overlay will open on your newly created Workshop pack!

If you want to update a Workshop pack you’ve created you can do this easily from the Update Menu! Inside the ‘Manage Workshop’ page press ‘Update’ and then select the category you want to update.


Here is what each field means:

• Select File = This is the CSV you created containing your questions! Just like when you created a pack it should be placed in 'Documents/TriviaTricks/Workshop/*YourQuestionPack*/'
  
• Select Image = This is the image that will represent your Workshop pack. This will be shown in Steam Workshop and Trivia Tricks’ Categories Menu. This should be placed in ‘Documents\TriviaTricks\Images’ (no subfolders) and all common image formats (including png and jpg) are accepted. If you do not select a new image then your existing one will be used.
  
• Category Title = This is the title that your Workshop pack will use in the Steam Workshop, the Categories Menu, and will be shown alongside your question in-game. This will be pre-populated with your current title.
  
• Item Description = This is the description that will be shown alongside your Workshop pack in Steam Workshop. This will be pre-populated with your current description.
  
• Visibility = Here you can select 'Public', 'Friends Only', 'Hidden' or 'Unlisted'. This will be pre-populated with your current visibility. Lobby hosts can play any packs they are subscribed to with anyone regardless of visibility setting. Instead, this option affects how the pack appears in Steam Workshop searches and in the Categories Menu. Once you click ‘Update’ the patch will be pushed to all subscribed players!

If you have a Workshop pack already created and want to update it to use the latest Workshop features then simply...

• Navigate to Documents/TriviaTricks/Workshop/ExampleWorkshopV3
  
• Open the ExampleWorkshopV3.csv file
  
• Open the csv of the pack you wish to update
  
• Copy the top row from the ExampleWorkshopV3.csv pack - it should start with "uniqueId" and end with "answerExplanation"
  
• Paste the top row into your own pack
  
• Save your pack

Note that the top row must be in the exact order as it is displayed in the ExampleWorkshopV3.csv and none of the headings can be skipped.

You will now be able to add images and answer explanations to your packs!
