Beechcraft Super King Air B200 Royal Flying Doctor Service

The Beechcraft Super King Air B200 is the second core vehicle of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Fleet with 30 aircraft in operation amongst the 77 aircraft fleet.

While it is an older aircraft than that of the Pilatus PC-12 is still remains the workhorse of the RFDS. This aircraft is operated in single pilot configuration (with some adjustments in Stormworks due to block sizes) and has a capacity for two stretchered patients and a medical team consisting of a flight nurse and doctor plus one extra seat for a passenger. The stretchers can be loaded via the main rear door although it is a tight fit due to the King Air's smaller door. This aircraft has the unique capability of extra storage in the rear cowling of the two engines that is accessible from the exterior of the aircraft.

Due to this aircraft being older it contains an altitude hold system to aid the pilot but the rest of the flying is done manually. The flaps and landing gear are very robust and can take the heavier landing in the times where you need to get somewhere fast.
