M7 Preist Self-Propelled Artillery

Description
"The 105 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M7 was an American self-propelled artillery vehicle produced during the early stages of World War II. "

"US Army observers realized that they would need a self-propelled artillery vehicle with sufficient firepower to support armored operations. Lessons learned with half-tracks (such as the T19 Howitzer Motor Carriage (HMC) with a 105 mm howitzer on the M3 Half-track chassis) also showed that this vehicle would have to be armored and fully tracked. It was decided to use the M3 Lee chassis as the basis for this new vehicle design, named T32.[6] The pilot vehicles used the M3 chassis with an open-topped superstructure, mounting an M2A1 105 mm howitzer, with a machine-gun added after trials".

this is my solution to the badly needed Self Propelled artillery for the US faction in IFA3. with this, your WW2 Armored Company needs should be complete.

THINGS OF NOTE:

1) yes, works with Artillery support modules and "Fire Mission" way-points. keep in mind, it has a forward facing, 90 degree firing arch. NOT 360 degrees.

2)for movement, it can be manually driven, moved by giving move commands on a map, follows way points, or, by deleting the Sherman Driver, it can simply be a static position.

3) the weird bed roll on top is for aesthetics and hides a texture i cant delete. make sure that its in the right position if you move the vehicle around in editor alot.

4) copying multiple Priests can cause some bugs. to fix these, double click each Priest you place down and change the name of the tank . (i usally just add a number to the end of it). do this to every object attached to it as well (were ever you see "priestspa: in the script, just remove the underscored number and replace it with the number of your choice). do this for all attached object scripts as well.

5) Lastly, yes, i know its the wrong gun caliber. once SOG's 105mm texture issue is fixed, ill release a separate SOG version with the correct gun caliber.

UPDATE: 1/5/22 so i did some testing, and it also works with UNSUNG Redux as well. so if you want to use that, go for it!

cool ! always liked the preist SPG , really handy when you need mobile artillery and you dont want to lug around a bunch of cannons

@dicklouden- so what I ended up doing to get the cannon on the Sherman hull was I actually shrunk it down using the new scale object script BI made, and shrunk its proportions down till it fit nicely into the tank.

As far as I know, there is no way to limit firing arch of a static weapon. But I may be wrong.

I also had a similar issue with the SOG 105mm and it’s ammo boxes. I ended up just using the Unsung 155mm and scaling it down to fit.

Some more good work man! Keep it up! BTW do you know an easy way to limit the firing arc of a static weapon? I'm trying to put the Orlekin gun from Sog on some 113s and other tracks but the way the gunner moves when the gun turns too much makes the gunner clip outside the track. Also were you able to remove parts from the UNSUNG cannon to make it fit in the Sherman? If so how? I was trying to remove the ammo boxes from UNSUNG's M40 to make it fit on other vehicles but had no luck so far.

RafaDombras, for now yes, its where the howitzer is from. so without Unsung, you'll have no actual artillery gun for the Priest.

Hi! Is Unsung realy needed to run the mod? I intend to use in Iron Front only.
