Spell Spud

Description
A long forgotten power has reemerged, a conduit of great magic and ruin. Though dangerous and hot to the touch, you cannot resist the chance to control it. Willing wizards, are you ready to duel your friends to emerge victorious and unlock the secrets hidden within...the Spell Spud???

Spell Spud is a 2-4 player elimination party game designed to be played within 15-30 mins. Be the last wizard standing to gain victory in this easy to learn card game! Find other players in our Discord community and consider backing on us Kickstarter if you enjoyed the game!

UPDATE (6/21/2023): Spell Spud 1.0 brings a LOT of new changes. The flow, game feel, and balance have all seen improvements. In our testing, the game stalls a lot less, while also letting players have more options, more often. We've also tried cutting down the amount of confusing interactions based on the frequent questions that we are asked. For more details, check the change notes.

I absolutely love this game. That being said, I would really appreciate it if there was some way to play the pre-1.0 version of the game. With the two temperatures and it alternating between them every round, games for us often devolve into a full altar of hexes and nobody has any reason to cast spells so they just wait until the potato randomly burns someone down while half the time you get a completely safe turn because the potato flipped cold.

Fun game tho

This caused much discourse between our group lol.
I don't think the rules are well written regarding this scenario and may need to be a little clearer

Specifically, which happens?

Scenario 1:
The active player does not get burned.
At the end of the turn, the "Futility" hex triggers.
The next active player deals with the void card.

Scenario 2:
The active player does not get burned.
At the end of the turn, the "Futility" hex triggers.
The CURRENT active player deals with the void card before the next active player's turn begins.

The futility hex - does this apply to the NEXT active player? As it says "At the end of the turn"
Or does the void apply to the current active player at the end of their turn?

SUCH A FUN GAME. It did lots of things really well in terms of mechanics, and it had a kickass art style to match! I am so sad I missed the kickstarter :steamsad::sadelf:

Fantastic game. I really hope the next kickstarter for this goes well. I'd like to have a physical copy of this too, especially if more content gets put into it.
