The Cassandra is the first ship of a new kind from Asterstahl's EDD (Experimental Designs Department). The idea behind the initial design was a lightly-armed, reasonably well-armored corvette capable of providing a distraction for enemy fire: it used decoys mounted on extendable arms to confuse the enemy ship's targeting system, thus buying the fleet some time to reposition or make an offensive manoeuver.
Over the years, this ship has gained the nickname "Space Piñata" amongst her crews, for quite obvious reasons.
Although lightly armed, its usefulness in combat situation has been successfully proven many times over.
In one instance, a single ship managed to hold off a squadron of Kamari missile boats for an hour, thus protecting a convoy which remained unscathed thanks to the valiant efforts of the warship's crew.
