-=Underground Base=-

Description
I created this underground base as an experiment but it turned out to be pretty nice. This was created in Vanilla Creative Mode. I have not tested it, but it should be compatible with Reforged Eden as it is CPU compliant. However, RE has some different devices, like generators although this only uses the basic Base generator. My goal was to create a terrain base that was cheap to build for it's size (7), upgradeable as you unlock tech in the F3 tech tree, and defendable against base attacks. Bonus, it is fully solar powered, the fuel/generator is a back up system and so far I have not needed it.

You could drop this on Haven (In single player mode) or any planet, moon, etc. where you need to survive against base attacks. 99.9% of the base is underground. You may lose your defense tower until you get a shield installed but you could just use the multitool and store the guns/elevators until you are shield ready. Drones will fly over your base but be unable to target anything, hence the long tunnel leading to relative safety.

So, first things first. When you spawn this in, use your insert and delete keys to position it the way you want it and then the PgDn (page down) key to sink it into the ground until all the red colored elevator blocks are below ground. This should sink it down far enough that you won't expose your base when you dig out your tunnel from the hangar far out and then up. This makes it so that you can't really take any damage from drone attacks, except for your defense tower which is one Cannon Turret, 4 Mini gun turrets, and 4 Sentry gun turrets.

I have small SV ships so I made a small hangar but if you need a larger hangar just dig it out more to your liking.

I designed this to be able to spawn in at unlock level 07 and so it does not come with all the upgrades but the base is large and has a lot of room for upgrades like shield and pentaxid tank, gravity generator if on a low gravity planet, more constructors, medical devices, and 3-4 furnaces. There is also a CPU room to place all your CPU upgrades as you unlock them. This baby is fully CPU compatible and requires no crew. Personally, I usually spawn a couple of human female dancing girls, just for the entertainment and company, but that is just fluff!

If left up and not taken down until you have a shield installed, drones will wear down your defense tower and damage your guns until you can craft and place a shield. There is a place for a shield in the Engineering section. It's marked SH. Pentaxid tank and gravity generator go in the same if/when placing.

The Fuel room has room to place more fuel tanks and the Generator room (Gens) has room for more and better generators as needed. You will not likely need more generators of fuel tanks but you can always fill up the fuel tanks and use them like a fuel depot, transferring fuel to your ships as needed. Oh, there is also a Solar room in the Engineering Section and the base comes with 10 capacitors for a long solar battery life, and 15 Solar Panels (max for vanilla) are on the roof. Yes, they work just fine underground! If your scenario allows more, like RE does just spawn this in creative and add more solar panels up to the max allowed and save it with alt + O.

There is a designated farm area with 12 growing lights installed (Switch turns them off if not farming anything). There are switches for the furnaces and constructors as well and a pressure plate installed and rigged, ready for placing a teleporter. Set to "follow" teleporter signal. The Farm Room has places for up to 108 plants! Happy Farming. You are going to get so fat from all the yummy food you will be making! Growing plots are not included.

There are 5 Container controllers and and an Ammo Controller. When you are ready and can craft container extensions, replace 39 carbon blocks connected to each of the controllers to expand it to 320k or up to it. The easiest way is to replace the blocks on the roof in a 4x10x1 area which connects.

There are also 6 Cargo boxes included for whatever and to hold you over until you can expand the containers with extensions.

This is going to require a lot of "digging out" once placed. Sorry, that is how the game is made when sinking a structure into the ground. The good news is you don't have to dig it all out at once unless you suffer from OCD like I do. You can certainly just dig out the areas you need to access as you desire. This digging out work goes much faster
once you hit unlock 10 and can make a drill (Vanilla) and some drill charges.

When I placed this I dug down the elevator to the main room and made a path to the other rooms and to the repair hangar (repair block, console, and repair station not included). Once the hangar was dug out I just spawned my HV or SV in to dig out my tunnel a safe distance out and then up at an angle for easy access. You can also do this by hand/drill but it takes a while. Even using a HV or SV drill, you may want to finish it off shaping or widening the tunnel to your liking with the handheld drill. The handheld drill also allows filling in ground and leveling if you want a cleaner look.

So, eventually after upgrading everything and placing devices you want or need you will have an awesome underground base! HV or SV can enter the tunnel and travel to the repair hangar as needed. CV can land on the ground up top. Use F4 to link to the base containers. This place has wireless connections (WiFi) installed in pretty much every room and even in the tunnel.

I hope you enjoy this. When I started creating this in space, it was not air tight but I could not find any blocks that were not air tight. If you discover why it was not air tight, please let me know so I can fix it. It is probably already fixed now since I worked on it planet side and updated it again.

As always, Enjoy and fly safe ... or don't!

Love this base. I'll be using it in Reforged Eden 2 also

I'm going to try this base in Reforged Eden. Looking forward to using it. I put it down in creative mode to see how long it take to dig out. Yep lots of digging. And best with the upgraded drill

That's very kind of you. I really like the design. Its something I would use on a secondary planet. I don't have the skill to do you modders do and always amazed at what is created.. I might have try and place it on a mountain edge and have the hanger stick out of the mountain.

Thanks WolfCat. Feel free to modify my design if you want to make it more to your liking. Repost it even but please link to the original if you do.

DocAceZ are you building a base on a planet with terrain wipes to refresh deposits? That would do it. I have not run into this issue myself in single player or multi player.

I like the concept but I like the ability to have a Hanger door at the top and the solar panels next to it. But that's just me. Really like the base setup and all the labeling.

Sucks the bases keep filling in after they are dug out even with the land claim device, This one looks really nice bro.
