Description
Tired of maxed settlements giving only +1 hero cap? Find it weird that the Forge building costs growth? Bizarre that the final tier of the Mage chain does absolutely nothing? Absurd that resource buildings lack garrisons?

This mod tweaks - slightly - a lot of small things about the Wood Elf buildings. What this means is:
  • Settlements provide much more than +1 hero cap per settlement (for a price, and only at higher tiers), meaning you don't need to spam the mage building literally everywhere for cap
  • Dealing with corruption and lower public order is slightly easier
  • The forge building actually makes sense
  • Overall, you'll make a teensy bit less money earlygame, and a teensy bit more money lategame
  • Resource buildings providing additional garrisons allows the resource slot to compete with the other outpost settlement buildings
  • Hero recruitment and capacity standardized to that of other races - recruitable at one tier, +capacity at the tier above that

Of course, don't expect any of the new buffs to be free. Or even super noticeable. The goal was to be subtle.



This mod was designed for Vortex. It works perfectly well in Mortal Empires too, but the rate of getting handed T5 settlements like candy due to confederation means a lot of the subtler changes this mod does are lost. The Oak of Ages providing public order factionwide also makes the public order bonus on the main chain redundant.



TECHNICAL NOTE 1: I was unable to test this with Drycha due to not owning the DLC. It should work perfectly fine, but there's a possiblity it doesn't. Let me know if something breaks and I'll see if I can fix it.

TECHNICAL NOTE 2: This mod has to edit main_units tables for the forge building requirements. The good news is that if some other mod edits that too, this mod's edits will fade into night and be overwritten.

TECHNICAL NOTE 3: Yes, the T2 buildings say +0 hero capacity. I can't get rid of this without making the mod really incompatible. It's fine, it serves as a teaser of what you'll get on the next tier.


Save-game compatible: you can take it on (and off!) your save at will - the worst that'll happen is some recruitment might be wonky and your hero cap might suddenly be 10/6, but nothing to worry about.

blizard wood elves never had walls in lore or they ever need them for their armys.
