  • Replace Element Shards with any item you wish to use as ammo.
  • Adjust the cost for each type of arrow.


Singleplayer Configs: ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
Server Configs: GameUserSettings.ini (Hopefully your host is clear about how/where to edit this)

Add the following to the bottom of the file and edit to desired values.
[ImprovedTekBow]
CustomAmmo=/Game/PrimalEarth/CoreBlueprints/Resources/PrimalItemResource_ElementShard.PrimalItemResource_ElementShard
ArrowCosts=5,80,20,10


A spawn code for an item to use in replacement of the default Element Shards.
CustomAmmo=/Game/PrimalEarth/CoreBlueprints/Resources/PrimalItemResource_ElementShard.PrimalItemResource_ElementShard

A comma delimited list of costs for each ammo type. Metal, Explosive, Tranq, Flame
ArrowCosts=5,80,20,10


  • An AmmoCost of 0 disables that arrow type.
  • Does NOT replace vanilla items.
  • Does NOT remap vanilla items.
  • Does NOT add new items.
  • Clean & Stackable.

Known issues:
  • The total ammo listed on the hotbar(on the item) will be 0 if you change to a custom ammo type. Visual glitch only. The amount shown per arrow type will be correct.


Make a thread on the discussions with as much relevant information as possible. You need to post, at a minimum:
  • Game Mode. Singleplayer/Non-Dedicated/Dedicated
  • Map
  • Mods Used
  • What the problem is
  • What debugging measure you've taken

if you can add damage values to the arrow types cause im looking for a tek bow to use that can be useful in something like primal fear and no one has made a change ammo cost and damages that would work with millions of torpor and health if i knew anything at all about modding id make it my self

Please add to the description that setting the ammo cost to zero won't let you use the bow for the selected arrow type. There is just no arrow appearing you can shoot, no matter how much of your set resource is available as ammunition.

Just to let everyone know, it's important for guys that think to sense a mod that disables ammo cost at all:

ty for the bow mod i made it use 1 shard each so much better than needing like 10k shard to have enough to do stuff

@MadBuffoon Not sure I would want to either, even if I could. Reason for this mod was because I thought 80% of 1 element for 1 shot was bonkers expensive, especially if you're on any map other than gen2.

If you're on dedicated server, I really hope you know where gameusersettings.ini is :)

Add the configs to the bottom of the file. Edit until happy with results(mejos for ammo, 1 mejo per shot, whatever floats your boat).
