Bits, Bobs, and Bullets

Description
Bits, Bobs, and Bullets (occasionally known as Bits, Bobs & Bullets, or BBB (or Triple-B)) is a simple weapon mod designed to spice up gameplay by adding a handful of weapons that do different things, such as providing reusable explosives that aren't thrown grenades or adding a degree of continuous fire to your arsenal.

Currently, this little passion project of mine includes five weapons:

Grenade Rifle

A relatively standard grenade rifle that fires low-yield (20 damage, 3x3 damage area) rifle grenades in two-shot bursts. It's pretty heavy and slow to reload, but it should make a nice support weapon for busting enemy clusters.

Naval Autocannon

Among the biggest (man-portable) guns on the rim, the Naval Autocannon is what the Autocannon turret should have been. A three-barrelled rotary autocannon that dispenses 18-round bursts of tiny explosives, peppering enemy groups with rather amazing* accuracy! Note that such a giant weapon stocked to the brim with shells is going to weigh your pawn down a lot.

*Accuracy is 20% at optimal range, just be surprised and happy your pawns can hold the damn thing.

Rotary Sub-Machine Gun (RSMG)

A small, three-barreled rotating weapon that fires extremely light pistol shots. Does only 5 damage and 6% armor penetration, but fires 15 shot bursts and warms up quite quickly. An excellent solution for your poorer shooters!

Be warned, the tiny bullets fired can't stun human-sized targets. Maybe don't use this one in the middle of an open field.

Medium Machine Gun (MMG)

The medium machine gun is a somewhat heavy weapon unlocked late into the weapons research tree; or at roughly the same point as the minigun, just with a different research item. It is a support weapon, designed to lay down slow, steady bursts of automatic fire, never really putting a ton of heat on an enemy but also never relieving the pressure, either.

Damage characteristics are the same as the LMG (they use the same ammunition, lore-wise), but accuracy is worse and RPM within a burst is much lower; however, the reload time between bursts is less than a second.

Heavy Battle Squad Automatic Weapon (Heavy Battle SAW; HBSAW)

Unlocked along with the MMG, the HBSAW is a portable piece of cover, buffing sharp armour by 20%, blunt armour by 12%, and heat armour by 8%. This comes at the cost of mobility, however; the twin-barrelled beast is one of the heaviest guns on the rim, even outweighing the naval autocannon by a small margin, thanks to its fortification.

Of course, this gun also has a gun portion; two, in fact! A pair of LMGs spitting slightly lighter than usual rounds (lower damage, higher velocity and armour penetration) at an extremely accelerated rate, shooting off a dozen shots in the time it would take a lesser LMG to shoot half that much.

Rumour has it that a hearty shield bash with the weapon works wonders on those who like to bring knives to gunfights, too. Some say it even eclipses the power of a zeushammer, thanks to how heavy it is.

Marksman Grenade Rifle

A DMR with an explosive twist, firing singular rifle grenades (same projectile as the normal Grenade Rifle) over surprisingly long ranges with impeccable accuracy. Only fires single-shot bursts, but is a bit easier to handle to compensate. Requires the same research as the standard grenade rifle, so have at that rifle grenade research and have yourself a ball!

Just be careful, it has a bit of a minimum range limit, so you might wanna use it from behind cover.

Punt Gun

An enormous, 0.75-gauge, over-under break action shotgun. It's one of the heaviest man-portable weapons on offer, and unleashes enormous shotgun blasts, smothering an entire area in tightly-packed buckshot. The long barrel means that it can't fire right up close, but the huge blasts of shot are effective out to a much further distance than other shotguns. It's an easy weapon to acquire, too, as it is unlocked by a simple research bench bill just after standard gunsmithing.

Rotary Heavy Machine Gun (RHMG)

A heavier version of the minigun that fires harder-hitting rounds. Bursts from the huge gun contain less shots, and all handling aspects are slower, and the shortened range and greater inaccuracy can quite a problem as well: however, the heavy bullets hit extremely hard, and can get through thicker armor than your typical minigun fire.

20mm Rifle

Have you ever used the Anti-Material Rifle from VWE and felt like it just didn't hit hard enough? Well, the 20mm Rifle is for you! It fires high-velocity, heavy bullets that deal 84 damage with 102% armor penetration. Unfortunately, accuracy isn't perfect, and its most effective ranges are those towards the end of human limits. It's unlocked with its own late-industrial research bill, so good luck!

I hope you enjoy this little ensemble of weapons! There'll be more on the way, I promise. Maybe.
Big thank you to the rimworld discord for helping me sort through my reverse-engineered code.

Update 1.5: So that's what I've been looking at!

- Added minimum range to the Naval Autocannon, meaning your pawn probably won't shoot themselves with explosives at point blank anymore. Probably.
- Increased overall firing speed of the MMG, but reduced accuracy a bit, to reinforce the gun's role as a support weapon.
- Updated all weapons with 256x256 sprites! Definitely looks a lot cleaner, for sure. Hope you all enjoy!

- Added a new research bill: Oversized Bores! Unlocks the brand-new Punt Gun and further research, and only requires gunsmithing to get started on.
- Added a new research bill: Infantry Cannons! Unlocks the 20mm Rifle, and requires both Oversized Bores and Precision Rifling.
- Added a new gun: The RHMG! Unlocked with Naval Weapons research, this hefty minigun fires large bullets with aplomb, dealing significant damage at the cost of range, increased weight, and even more accuracy. Additionally, it fires lower-density, smaller bursts than the minigun.
- Added another new gun: The Punt Gun! Obliterate anything (that doesn't have armor better than flak armor) with this giant shotgun, that sprays enormous blasts of buckshot across long ranges. Has a minimum range requirement, but it'll hurt, don't you worry!
- Added a third new gun: The 20mm Rifle! If you thought the Anti-Material rifle was anaemic, this is the gun for you. It has better range and nearly triple the power of the standard sniper rifle, but takes a huge time to cool down, and still doesn't have perfect accuracy.
- Added a fourth new gun that I forgot about I think! The Marksman Grenade Rifle is a single-shot grenade rifle with excellent accuracy and fair handling traits. Use it on your more squishy or important shooters. Unlocked with rifle grenade research.

Thank you! I'll look into setting up some fun infographics for everything in the near future.

Just like the Vanilla Expanded series. Item info sheets will be very attractive to read, increasing the likelihood of people being interested. Good luck!

@Miathea Thank you for the kind words! I'm not particularly comfortable using other people's artwork (it's just a personal thing, nothing against any of the insanely talented graphic artists we have in the community), but what kind of infographics do you suggest?

Definitely deserves more attention. You may commission some of the textures off of the Mod Market, and an infographic will surely help you. Good luck.
