BR Class 55 Deltic

British Type 5 Class 55 diesel-electric locomotive. Developed in the late 50s and introduced in 1961, the Class 55 received its nickname from the Napier Deltic engine originally developed for motor gun boats. Two 18-cylinder engines were fitted to a six-axle locomotive since the existing diesels were inadequate for fast express trains since their performance was not better than that of the steam engines they were replacing. The Deltics were mostly used on the East-Coast Main Line and later on the Transpennine routes until they were replaced by the Intercity 125 sets by late 1981.

The livery options are mostly there to recreate railtours and the like. The max speed is set at 114 mph (183 kph), the fastest a regular Deltic run was recorded in the flat. The coaches are likewise adjusted. The game uses 90% top speed as default value, which results in a default speed setting of 165 kph (~102 mph).
